Nah, that's not the reason. This thread didn't even mention the USA in the title, and still I knew that it would be nothing but a tool against biden.
Actually the U.S can supply Europe with the energy they need, but, as I said, we need the infrastructure. That means reinstating the pipeline and refinery projects and encouraging new projects and opening up federal land. Just one project LNG project in Alaska, approved in 2020, jumped what they call proven reserves (this means reserves from which they have an actual approved project going forward to extract and transport the oil, such as a pipeline) by 27 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. That's more than a year's worth of what Europe currently uses in natural gas resources. After Joe revoked the key permit for the Keystone XL and added more restrictions and regulations of course it does not make sense for new projects in the U.S. and companies wisely look to foreign countries. The U.S. does have enough energy to supply all of Europe. Russia supplies more energy to Europe than the U.S.
The pandemic caused a massive drop in global oil demand, the price of gasoline went to $2.00 a gallon because of a glut on the market. Dozens of oil companies were bankrupted. OPEC cut production by millions of barrels a day. Drilling slowed as some wells are unprofitable when oil prices are low. Layoffs occurred. Trump saw very high unemployment happening toward the end his term. Massive government stimulus was voted on by a bipartisan Congress. It produced a record high Federal budget deficit.
This oil production chart shows a time when the world was running out of oil and a drop in production. Fracking started to turn oil production to a positive trend c. 2010. The pandemic shutdowns and work from home drop in fuel usage is visible on the chart during 2020 when oil production decreased during Trump’s final year.
U.S. Crude Oil Production - Historical Chart
Fracking is spreading to other countries. The world is still dependent on hydrocarbons. China started switching to electric cars. They had to use more coal to generate electric power after the price of liquid natural gas spiked higher.
Keystone XL is a pipeline project from the Canadian oil fields to the U.S. not for Alaskan natural gas. I am in favor of Keystone XL, but it is not the only issue I am interested in. Canada has ports to ship oil. They are expanding a pipeline to the Pacific. They may build more pipelines. These are expensive and take years to complete. The U.S. produces most of the oil it needs and refined enough oil to export gasoline, diesel and other finished projects. One shale rock formation in Texas is already mature after they started fracking in 2008. One of the lead developers curtailed drilling there in favor of better oil plays. Developing renewable energy sources is good, but can not meet all our energy needs.Actually the U.S can supply Europe with the energy they need, but, as I said, we need the infrastructure. As I said, we have enough energy to supply all of Europe, but we need the infrastructure. Don't confuse the current usage of the United States with our potential to supply Europe. Sadly Joe has moved in the opposite direction, shutting down the Keystone XL and other energy projects and greatly curtailing future products. We are in the middle of a crisis, which Biden contributed to by his gaffe about a minor incursion, and he is doing the opposite that needs to be done in order to supply Europe with their energy needs while cutting off Russia. Yes, plants can take years to construct, that's why Joe's stubbornness in getting these projects started is maddening. Joe's attack on U.S. fossil fuels results in replacement with fuels produced by foreign countries that do not meet U.S. standards, greatly accelerating effects of global warming. There is plenty potential left in Texas, I'll link you to an article about one area: USGS Estimates 20 Billion Barrels of Oil in Texas’ Wolfcamp Shale Formation | U.S. Geological SurveyKeystone XL is a pipeline project from the Canadian oil fields to the U.S. not for Alaskan natural gas. The U.S. produces 25% of global natural gas. Most is consumed in America, not shipped abroad. Pennsylvania is second in natural gas production. It may someday surpass Texas production. Pennsylvania has at least 97 trillion cubic feet.
There is limited LNG liquefaction capacity. These plants to liquify natural gas take years to build. China is also a large importer of liquid natural gas. They compete with Europe and others for scarce supplies. The price of LNG is so high, coal usage increased. Coal, oil and natural gas consumption resulted in more CO2 emissions warming the planet and acidifying the ocean. Overfishing is a global problem.
The world uses 35 billion barrels of oil a year. You are not supplying Europe with much energy are you? Russia is their major supplier. As I said, we have enough energy to supply all of Europe, but we need the infrastructure. The workers were there for the pipeline cancelled by Joe. There were a lot of good paying jobs lost, and no, that they could not be trained in as computer programmers as Joe suggested --it is not the same skill set. As to investors, as I explained they are looking to other countries because of the regulations and restrictions Joe put in place. There is natural gas in the ground and permitted LNG projects under construction. There is a lack of skilled workers and investors to invest in more energy construction projects.
The U.S. became a net energy exporter not long before Joe took office. The U.S. pollution standards are far about those of Russia and China. We have enough energy to supply all of Europe. But Biden has, instead of allowing the U.S. companies to do this, did the opposite and greatly restricted the U.S. fossil fuel industry in the United States. As a result, a higher percentage of dirty fossil fuels are being used in the world, accelerating global warming.

There is natural gas in the ground and permitted LNG projects under construction. There is a lack of skilled workers and investors to invest in more energy construction projects. Even when the Republicans opened everything they could there was not enough to replace what Russia sold to Europe. These newer shale horizontal wells deplete rapidly. The more you drill the sooner it is depleted. A fracked shale well depleted in four years: Production Decline Curve Analysis - Energy Information Administration
Oil production fell due to the pandemic. Ironically it is rising again with Biden as president. He needs gasoline for his cars.
Drill, drill, drill for another generation will not have gasoline. England was once a major coal producer. Only a minimal amount of British coal production exists today. Their coal is gone, depleted, spent.
Europe could use more nuclear or coal if they wanted. They are building windmills. They need lithium for batteries.
We have the resources to replace Russian oil, as I've stated, we don't currently have the infrastructure. While coal is a small percentage of our total energy, China produces most of their electricity from coal. The Chinese are building more than half of the world's new coal power plants. This is why it is so crucial to get them to try and meet U.S. pollution standards. We burn off natural gas at so many of our oil fields--very wasteful.US Coal usage is set to grow 23% this year. That is the dirtiest fossil fuel. So not seeing where the restrictions are here or where your moral advantage over China and indeed India is. Americans have pricing problems because their demand is too high and growing. Time to trade the SUV for a Tessla maybe. You do not have enough fuel supplies to replace Russia as a key European energy supplier.
Some nations do not allow fracking. That is slowly changing with Australia and Columbia interested in fracking. A European oil company is increasing natural gas production in North Africa. South Africa is interested in fracking. Saudi Arabia is fracking. The workers were there for the pipeline cancelled by Joe.
