  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

That attitude is so self-centered...they owe their very existence to their mother and father. That is just what happens when we are seperated from our God. This serves to increase the gratefulness to my own parents, and parents everywhere. Parenthood is a beautiful vocation, and unfortunately those who commit to it arent given anywhere near the respect they deserve in todays society. We should all give a big thank-you to all the mothers and fathers on here! :)

This is shocking:
The best, and perhaps harshest, anti-kid volley in the new millennium came from a computer programmer in Utah, whose acerbic take on parenthood -- "I am better than your kids" -- went up on his website late in 2002. On his site, George Ouzounian, known as "Maddox," grades a series of children's drawings. "If you work in an office with lots of people, chances are that you work with a person who hangs pictures up that their kids have drawn," he writes. "The pictures are always of some stupid flower or a tree with wheels."

May God have mercy on the world.

It is so very scary that there is absolutely no long term thinking... what exactly is supposed to happen to America if there are no babies born, or educated???

The incredible self- centeredness makes me so sick-- "You can't do whatever you want once you have kids"-- what kind of homes were these people raised in- when did life become measured in being able to do whatever you want???? I'll bet their grandparents are rolling over in their graves!

I'm glad they aren't having kids. Can you imagine if they did, by some longshot, have a child? That poor child. They would be made to feel guilty for infringing on their parents freedom to go out every night. All I can say is they don't know what they're missing.

I wonder if they think their own parents were idiots for having children.

You know, I don't think they would (for the most part)--- their hearts would melt and while difficult sometimes, would make all the sacrifices without even thinking about it. Children are like that- they stretch you to do that which you would never do before-- and it isn't until later you realise how far you have gone.

I think the real thing with these folks is that they are entrenched in feeling unloveable- and are unable to accept the vulnerability and openess to love that comes with having a child--all the other stuff is just what makes them not have to delve into their brokeness...

You are not supposed to take that guy's web site seriously.

Such shortsightedness and self-centeredness is an outgrowth of a society that has abandoned and "deconstructed" nearly all of its core judeo-Christian values. Kind of like "I don't believe in anything, so I'll just do what I feel like and not care about anything".
It's the opposite of the selfless giving that Christ asks of us. These people fear parenthood because they cannot imagine anyone other than themselves at the center of their universe.

Unfortunately, we live in a society that clearly sends the message that children are an inconvenience instead of a blessing. In a nation that gives abortion a constitutionally protected status, children will be devalued.

I feel sorry for these folks because they are missing the joy and love that only comes from letting someone else be the most important person in their lives.

I just read this article, and it really, really makes me fume!

That kind of hatred of children really ticks me off, b/c it's illogical? Why is it illogical? B/c we were all children once! So, did these self-centred idiots hate themselves when they were children? Something tells me not, yet they despise something that they once were.

Really, such selfish views upset me so much!

I've seen his site before, and while I disagree w/ his stance, I must admit that some of the commentaries on the drawings are quite funny. But then again, I have kind of a twisted sense of humor at times.
