Okey doke. I'm awake now. So... for practical purposes, I seem to be the driver of this truck, but I'm really more of a regulator than a GM. I want everybody to have a say in things, so we do it by negotiation. If somebody has an idea,, but aren't sure it's okay, they should clear it with the group. If someone objects, the idea can either be dropped or modified as per compromise. Whatever is established is set in stone. whatever is inconsistent with the established facts or players' plans has to be worked out. Everybody has the power to influence the story. i'm just here to keep it all in line and moving. My idea for the children was that they were all brought to the citadel as babies and raised by the Keeper with the help of his two servants, Jasna and Sialan (who are in fact elite warriors who sacrificed their personal lives for this task). I didn't have an idea as to why the children are so important, but they hhave been kept carefully ignorant of their origins, educated and taught the killing arts (disguised as "games" and "dances") None of them are related to the Keeper. My idea for magic was for it to be a more spiritual form. I haven't really defined it completely, but basically what you can do depends on what you become. The Keeper can do powerful healing and light-based magic because he devoted his whole life to goodness and truth. If I put other characters in, I could have a killer whose intimate familiarity with darkness makes him able to manipulate shadows. Or a polirician whose cunning psychpathic nature gives him subtle mind control powers. Or a warrior whose courage in bbattle enables him to sheath his sword or armor in fire or project an aura that rejuvenates his allies, etc. I'm not into thee typical mage thatt can throw fireballs and such. i would class those things as sorcery, which is practiced by the dark ones. Their motives are destruction, power, and v rule by force. so a how-too book on magic would contain some pretty esoteric-sounding thhings. There iss one Creator in this RPG, but there are demons ccalled Fiends, who have a Queen named Hathluhan. Does this help/ comments or ideas?
