  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Chat Room Stalkers

Scenario: You're being stalked inside of a chat room.

This has happened to me several times. I'd go into a chat room, exit that one, go into another, and be followed by someone else. Then they would open up a private chat window and tell me how desperate they are to find a date and will I go out with them?

To me this is stalking and it's pretty creepy.

WE DON'T EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER FOR PEEPS' SAKE. I mean, to me and from my point of view I'm talking to strangers, so I don't even know these people.

Every day when I get online there are hundreds of strangers that read my text messages. And yet I may not hear from a single one of them (because they "float" in the background!)

Would you guys simply recommend I put these people on my ignore list?
Because if I do that they can't talk to me, they can still follow me around............:waaah:

You know if I were a moderator I'd just permanently kick them out of the chat room, but you see, I'm not the moderator!

What chat rooms are you using? Why are you using them? Anything you transmit at all can be traced back to your IP address, which can, with enough effort, be traced back to you. If you wouldn't say something in a room full of a hundred strangers, you should think long and hard about posting it online.

If you're still going to chat there, use the ignore list. It will help stem the tide of stalkers and bots alike from bugging you at least. And remove personally identifiable information (along with any other information that could attract stalkers) from your profile.
