Charlie's Death

I have just been speaking to my step dad and he just came up with something that Desmond said to Charlie that if Charlie died Clair and Aaron would get off the island....but as far as we know she doesnt since shes not an oceanic 6...so what now, what does this mean? any ideas.

Hmmm...I think it might just be a hole in the script.

I think it's either a hole in Desmond's logic, or an alternate-reality thing that hasn't been explained yet.

All Desmond saw in his vision was Claire and Aaron getting on a helicopter, not them getting off the island. So either they do get on the helicopter and something happens to stop Claire from actually making it home, or his vision was wrong.... or in one version of reality they make it, and in another they don't.

The whole time-travel thing complicates the logic of the story until they feed us more clues.

I don't think that Claire will even make it to the helicopter with the way things are going for her.

That's a very interesting thought.

Desmond's visions were causing him a lot of grief until he found his constant. He had the whole experience of reliving his life, meeting Penny, falling in love with her, breaking up with her -- all knowing it couldn't really be happening because he was on an island pushing a button.

He came out of Widmore's office and saw Charlie standing on the street playing guitar, and he recognized him from the island, when that experience supposedly happened a year or more before he ever met Charlie.

So I think that during the time when he had not found his constant, things were so messed up for him, trying to discern reality from alternate-reality, or possible-reality (or whatever) that we probably can't put too much stock in those visions being true.

I like BenAdam's idea, though. Seems very possible, knowing how powerful the island is.

Yeah that would make sense. Be interesting to see how it pans out.
