  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do the mennonites and other anabaptists believe the gifts of tongues, interpretation Of tongues, gifts of healing, word of knowledge and prophecy can be practiced today?

I am an Anabaptist convert and I do not speak for all Anabaptists, but to answer your question I would say yes and no. Anabaptism, as I have discovered and appreciate, is very much down to earth yet very spiritual. Anabaptists have taken the word of truth and believed it. If the New Testament speaks of tongues and interpretations, and healing, and words of knowledge, they do, of course, believe it. I guess the real question is, do they believe those things as they are practiced as a form of exhibitionism then I would say no, they do not believe that. I have experienced all of those things in the charismatic churches and my conclusion is that it is all for a show, a psychological experience, and phony. When, and if, God elects to re-institute these gifts it will be Him who does it and not the emotional outburst of fanaticism. My faith and trust do not rely on some exhibitionist display of excitement but rather on the time tested truth of faith and trust in the living and present Spirit of the Almighty God with no external proofs in the flesh required.
