I`m writing some performance monolouges and have decided to work on character voices but also any tips on how to write for different types of character, I`ve post some scripts in my blog the main example of the sort of thing I`m after is the skit entitled Lionel the lion.

When you are going for a definite voice for each character the best way is to actually sit down and map it all out. Invent your character's past, background, accent, particular turns of phrases, and in some cases, what he/she is really thinking when he says ...

If you can figure out how to think like your characters it should be easier.

It can also help to compare your characters to other characters, or for people in real life. Though I suggest being careful to aviod getting too stereotypical--unless that is your intention.
