Chaplets

 I have been praying the Divine Mercy chaplet every morning after seeing my boys off to school. I was wondering if a decade can be "dedicated" to a specific request? I think I've heard that you can do that??

Does anyone else here pray a chaplet?? If so, which one and how do you pray for a specific request??

Go for it, Lily. I'm sure there's no Chaplet police that will jump out and get you if you customize your prayer time. The Chaplet, like the Rosary, is not a 'formula'. It is merely an aid to meditative prayer. Don't worry. You can't do it wrong.

When I pray my Rosary, I make my petitions at the end before the "HHQ".

"We are in need of your help, Lady. Your beloved children, (names here), are greatly burdened. Comfort, console, and heal them, make them to grow in the love of God, and lead them to your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom we ask all things. Amen"

I see no reason why you couldn't do something like that after every decade.

Oh, I do all kinds of weird stuff in the Rosary, lol.

I mess up all the time, like for the longest, I've been forgetting the Glory Be after the first 3 HMs at the beginning. Plus, I don't know the Apostle's Creed or the HHQ yet, so I kinda fudge or just don't say them at all.

I also will make prayer requests all over it, like at the beginning, or before the decades, or after, and all in between. I don't think Jesus or Mary cares, just as long as you're praying the Rosary anyway.

Oh! And just for fun sometimes I'll just say HMs straight through the beads without meditating or anything, just saying them to be close to Mary, like when I'm lonely or scared and lying on my bed in the dark and can't get to sleep. Last night I was doin that and when I woke up I found my Rosary under my tummy. ROF!!!

Lily, I pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet , frequently, and before I start it, I do the same as when I pray my rosary. After I bless myself, and say ,"In the name of the father........etc" I offer the chaplet up for whatever intention I have.......

When I pray the chaplet of Divine Mercy, I usually do it with the virtual rosary. I usually keep any of my own personal requests for my times of free form prayer. During the chaplet though, I download prayer requests from all over and pray for someone one each bead of my rosary. I don't see why you couldn't decide to pray on each bead, or even just each decade. It's all good. It just matters that you are praying.

I have been saying "For the sake of His Sorrowful Passion have mercy on (insert name here)" and after saying the name I conclude with "have mercy on us and on the whole world"

Thanks for the reassurances. I have been having such a difficult time concentrating on praying that I thought to pick up the chaplet and it has been such a blessing to be able to pray a whole 15 mins and lift up so many intentions I have a prayer list printed out and sometimes I just lift up the whole sheet, sometimes I pray each name individually.

I also printed out and have been praying the ??? (not sure if it's a novena or what) that nyj posted in the prayers thread on the Lord's Holy Name ... I really like that one
