  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am a man, but she will take my name. Hence I voted in her name :p
It seems to be quite important to her that she can and will take my name as her own. Me, I find it romantic and I love the thought of my wife becoming one with me also in that area. It means a lot to both of us that we can be husband and wife, that we can be one and show it so clearly as having the same name does.
*nod* agreed. I thought the changing one's name thing was interesting, as I'm doing the same thing - I'll be legally changing mine in the months to come - her family already knows me as (the name I'll be taking), and most of my friends call me by my last name, which probably won't be changing, so it's really no big. Just interesting is all. :p

My family couldn't understand why I chose a completely ordinary name, either, lol.
They didn't seem to get the concept that a name one chooses for oneself can have a far deeper meaning to them than their birth name. ;)

you know, after talking this over with my mother, she clued me in on the tradition of her family and apparently of generations past. This is one I didn't know about. It's the option to replace my middle name with my maiden name. That's what my mother did when she got married and that's what her mother did as well. I'd consider it since it would sound so strange having 4 names in a row for me. They don't really flow together. So I'm considering replacing my middle name with my maiden name. I am simply not considering getting rid of my maiden name totally since I am so tied to it and my family.

I'll be taking my husband's name. There's something about it that seems right to me.. God-ordained almost, although I'm not sure if there are any passages in the Bible that address the issue. And I certainly don't think less of anyone who chooses to do things differently. ;)
One other reason I'll be glad to take his name -- believe it or not, I have a hard time pronouncing my own. His rolls off the tongue better, and sounds a lot better with my first name in my opinion.
