Atheism does not try to hinder or prevent free excersize of religion. It mearly does not recognise the deities as existant. If a religion can't survive without government support, it has too many problems to be a viable religion.

It's not the job of the government to recognize or not recognize a deity. It's the job of the governenment to avoid the subject. We no more want a government that denies that a god exists than one that claims that a god does exist. The governenemnt should not even be addressing the question.
