So obviously this is only a scenario. It's not real (at least I hope nobody ever has to go through this).
But it makes me wonder, would you be able to as a true follower of Christ? I will tell you right off the bat,
I wouldn't be able to. I'd fail that.
The scenario is this:
You have a choice to either give up the life of one of your children to save 10 random people in this world you do not know
nor do you probably even want to / care to know. Or choose to save the life of your child and let those random 10 people
perish (some random person in hungary, ethiopia, myanmar, south africa, ecuador, china, iraq, cuba, spain, and azerbaijin).
On paper, the right choice would be to sacrifice the 1 to save the 10. Do the math right?
But since that 1 is your own child, and those 10 are ppl you don't know, nor will you ever know (on earth), and probably if you did
meet them, you wouldn't really want to know them because they live such different lifestyles as you, mostly which you disagree with too.
But still, it's 10 vs 1. You should save the 10 instead of just 1.
So as a true christian who is supposed to love everybody and the people in the world, would your love for those 10 random unknown people
to you BE MORE than your own love for your child?
Be honest now. Don't tell me what you know is the right answer. Tell me what you'd honestly choose.
I would save my own child and forget the other 10. Sorry. I just would. I'd never choose 10 or even 100 random people for the life of my own chlidren
(unless my children were old and wise and they told me specifically to let them go so I could save 100 who really need it).
