This dork is challenging Christians to test their faith. In this situation is it best for me to say something or should I just pray for him?

Interesting site. And rightly challenges fundamentalist Christian dogma. For me the question of "is God real" is interesting, intriguing, but much less important that living Christ-like.

"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces." - Matthew 7:6
I understand that from a Christian POV this would be correct. Respectfully, I might also suggest the following:
[bible]Luke 12:11-12[/bible]
I realize there are times you will feel compelled to speak. At those times, I believe it would serve you better to not speak from anger, disgust, frustration, etc., but from that place within you that is quiet wisdom.

Like does God really think slavery is ok? and if so then don't you think that's kinda twisted?
If you read the scripture carefully, the "slavery" in question more resembles indentured servitude. Perhaps not so twisted, eh? Also, in and of itself, I don't see anything wrong with indentured servitude at all. If there is any reason it has become unacceptable, it's because disreputable people treated it the wrong way for all the wrong reasons.

'Course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. :)

The Bible says we are saved by FAITH and not by WORKS, meaning what we do is of no consequence, all we have to do is believe in Jesus, and we are saved.

However, generally, Christians like to follow the rules, and THAT is what makes Christians so distinct. As for the hair-cutting and speaking in Church, I haven't yet read the hair thing... we're supposed to take care of our bodies, and I suppose that's where that came from... and for speaking in Church, we're allowed to speak in Church, but this probably refers to church meetings of the staff and what not... we're to speak only when it's our turn, if you read into the verse correctly...

Peace, Love, and Joy to you.
Merry Christmas!

Just interested in your views on the Nicene Creed - where it fits into your faith, and into Christianity generally?
[I've just been informed by CF moderators that I cannot display a Christian icon without ascribing to the Nicene Creed]
I look forward to your replies.

Thanks for all your replies. Guess I'll wait and see whether I get to remain a "Christian" here on CF.
;)

What does this mean, since you are sporting a Christian icon?

I perfectly understand why the atheists can challenge God's existence, because God allows it. If God wants to show his glory, he can simply speaks from the sky, and all will shut up and kneel before him. The point is nothing is more important that the salvation made possible by Christ's crucificion. The condition of the salvation is preached by Christ; no one see God unless he sees Christ. The only way to see God is to pray that you believe in Christ.

Beware that more deceives are to come as end time is getting nearer.

I didn't read the whole site, but from the 2 chapters i saw that has got to be one of the more pathetic attempts to try and bring down the Christian faith. Those "contradictions" or "unthinkables" like slavery and women not being allowed to teach are the result of not looking at the Bible in context. I can imagine that this website could shake someone who is new to Christianity, but thats about it. If anything it strengthens the faith of those who understand the Bible correctly because we can see that the atheists have a very weak case against us.

It is also shameful for a woman to have her hair shorn, and to speak in church. If she wishes to ask, she may ask her husband at home in private.

Every woman with a haircut is going to hell alongside homosexuals.

Hi Disenchanted,

I can see you are questioning certain passages in Scripture. This is wonderful! It is by seeking to understand God's Word that we come to know Him and His plan for us. That being said I seem to "hear" some deep seated anger. Perhaps I can help a bit.

Women with shorn hair in those times were by and large prostitues ( Generally in temples to other gods ). This is one of those cases where time and context is important to know. The same ( context and time ) can be said for women not speaking in church.

You might benifit greatly by sitting down with someone well versed in the Bible, the society of the time, and has a gift for explaining how these verses apply to our lives now.

Peace to you.
