writing How to instructions is kinda becoming a hobby of mine latley and since some of them might help to make your work as petWORKERS easier I thought it's best to collect all the tipps and tricks in one place....

if you have questions about them just pm me....or post them....

How to get a FREE photobucket account:

go to photobucket to register
pick a username and password...then click next step
fill the form out....
now you should be a member
go to photobucket to log in

How to use your photobucket account:

to upload a picture from your computer:

on the right side of the screen you should see a form like this:

select the image you want to upload by clicking on the button on the right....once you've selected the picture press ok
you should now see this:

you can now add a title for the image (not necessary) by typing it into the box....

you can upload more than one picture at a time....just repeat the steps using the second box....if you want to upload more than 3 pictures at once press "+ add more" in the bottom right corner and you'll get more boxes....

to upload a picture from a web URL:

uploading a picture from an URL works more or less the same than uploading one from your own computer...

in the menue on top of the upload form in photobucket click on "web url"

copy the URL of the image (right click on the image and select copy image adress) and paste it into the box....
you should now see a small version of the picture beside the box....



once you've finished selecting what you want to upload press "upload"

you should now get this:

when the pictures all have been uploaded they should be visible at the bottom of the page:

How to use the pictures:

below each of the pictures you get boxes with different codes....for you the URL Link and the IMG Code are the ones of interest...

the URL Link basically is the Image adress...so you can use this one e.g. for setting an image as your avatar on CF....

for posting you use the IMG Code...

if you click on the box with the code it should automatically copy it (unless you use Opera) so all you have to do is paste it into your posts, guestbook entries or signature....

How to use the sub albums:

sub albums are more or less folders you can create to make it easier for you to find images in your account...

to create a new one use the form below the upload box:

pick a name and click "submit"

JUST BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOVE PICTURES WITHIN THE ACCOUNT - IF YOU ARE ALREADY USING THE IMAGE SOMEWHERE THE LINK WILL BREAK IF YOU MOVE IT AROUND IN YOUR ACCOUNT!

to move a picture either select it by ticking the little box beside the image name above the code boxes....or select them all at the bottom of the page...

click on "move selected" at the bottom of the page

select the sub album you want them moved to from the drop down menue...and press "move"

in the custom nav bar you can store the links to the most important threads/posts you need for your work! I even have a link to the food store there.
the custom nav bar will be displayed on every page you visit while logged on...

How to edit:
go to your user CP - find "edit options" (3rd point on the left hand menue) - scroll down to "Miscellaneous Options" - enter a title for the link (this is what will be displayed in the custom nav bar) and the url - when you are finished press "save changes" at the bottom of the page

the custom nav bar is the one at the bottom of the picture....

don't just copy and paste the url into a post!!!! those type of links will break sooner or later!

How to do it properly:

use the hyperlink button

write the name of the pet or the pet number, select it, then press the hyperlink button and enter the link adress into the pop up window, press ok and the link will be entered into your message....

Go to the CFcustomizer - look for where it says "Chnage custom title" ( should be the 5th option on the right) - click "get" - enter the custom title you want to have - click "preview" - you now get a preview of what your new custom title would look like, if you like it press "confirm", if you want to change it again press "go back"

once you click "confirm" the blessings will be paid (100 Blessings) and the changes made...

just use two different browsers - one for each ID

e.g. I use Opera for being online with CFPR22 and Firefox for Ainuhina....

it MUST be two different programs though - not just seperate windows in the same program!

Basic Changes -> Tutorial

Things you can do in your HTML section (go to your userprofile and then the second link in th left hand side menue)

if you need help with HTML just drop me a note or ask in the MycfHomepage discussion forum...

add a picture:

copy the URL of the image and replace url_of_image in the code below with your image url

to display just the image as is:
<img src="url_of_image">

to specify a width and height (in pixels):
<img src="url_of_image" height="20px" width="20px">

of course you can change the width and height - just change the numbers

add a link:

again you need to copy the url of the page you want the link to lead to...and replace url_of_image in the code with your url

to display a normal text link:
<a href="url_of_link">text to be displayed on page</a>

to open link into a new browser window:
<a href="url_of_link" target="_blank">text to be displayed on page</a>

to make a picture act as a link:
<a href="url_of_link"><img src="url_of_image"></a>

don't forget to replace url_of_image in the last one with your image url!

adding music/ videos:

To add background music or a video to your page, you will need to have the url to the music file (with wma, asx, mp3.. etc. at the end of the url) from either another site, or from your own host.

Replace url_of_song in the code below with your code....

this will create a music player with controls that a viewer can control:
<embed src="url_of_song" autostart="true" loop="true" width="280" height="45"></embed>

this will play the music in the background with no user controls:
<embed src="url_of_song" autostart="true" loop="true" width="0" height="0"></embed>

a good source for videos is youtube

myspace videos and song are not working I'm afraid

great thread!! I am a self learner/teacher and a lot of times I hate having to sift through FAQs and already listed posts about a variety of things, I would much rather find someone who can just walk me through a quick 'how to'

how to put a blog on my profile here on CF?

and

all this talk about snapshots, how do I take a snap shnot of my character/pets?
