CF Downtime

hey everyone, there is a window of downtime between 10pm-12am CST everyday for the next 2 weeks. that does not mean that the servers will go down, but i just wanted to let you know that they may. we are working to clean up sql queries and coding to make CF run smoother. the downtime could be short (couple of min), or it could be long (the full 2 hrs). this is so we can troubleshoot problems on the servers.

i wish i could be more specific on the times, but there is no way to know what kinds of problems we will run into when working on this. we will try to the best of our ability to have zero downtime.

Thanks for giving us a heads up on this Paul, I'm sure it'll do alot to alleviate the tensions and questions.
Are the avatar and profile pic uploading errors related to the cleaning and the various errors ??
I have had a few members ask me and I told them I would find out some specifics if possible.

they are prob related...although if it does not fix those issues, we can address those at a later time. please ask them what kind of error they get and pm those to me if you can.

I tried on Mozilla Firefox, IE and Safari. I cleared all the cache/cookies again and nothing has changed.​

I, for one, appreciate this notice a lot.

However... as someone who is incredibly active on this site, I can say with confidence that the site servers "go down" at least once an hour, sometimes multiple times. It's never for very long... a few minutes maybe, but it's still happening, and it's still highly annoying (especially when it eats a very long post you've just typed up).

At least once -every hour- I get errors stating the server connection has been lost or the page cannot be displayed and so on and so on. Ironically, it's never between the hours of 10pm and 12am CST.

So I guess at this point, the question isn't "When is the down time" (the answer being: Constantly)

The question is... when will it stop?

That's probably what these specified windows of downtime are for. The timeout errors that have been happening recently aren't because the server is being taken down. It's because there's something wrong with it.

I've been getting them since April, so I wasn't sure if that was the only problem or not lol

Also, I had posted this on another thread concerning the Search function......It doesn't appear to be working for me when I do a search for posts or threads using keywords........
