• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ok guys, now that we have our own forum, we need to determine what, if any, fsg's (forum specific guidelines) we will have in place as to who can be a member, who can post, etc.

Please, put down any ideas you may have, so we can discuss and get some things drawn up.

Thanks!

These are the ones that were posted before the restructuring. I was asked to write them and this is what I wrote.

This is a Catholic forum for those in union with the Bishop of Rome, his Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. We welcome and encourage our Christian brothers and sisters of all faith communities to participate in discussions and to share testimonies and pray with us.

This Forum is to share the Catholic Charismatic Renewal with our Catholic and non-Catholic brothers and sisters. It is a No Debate Forum and we encourage you to open threads for discussion that pertain to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

We ask that Catholic threads that do not directly pertain the Catholic Charismatic Renewal be opened in One Bread One Body where they can be shared with the entire Church.

Of course we can modify them now to fit our needs as our needs are a little different.

Do we want to word it that the forum is specifically for those "in communion with Rome"?

As you guys know, I'm OC, not RC...

Now, please understand that I will not be trying to separate CCR from the RC, etc. I'm just wondering if there may be a better way to word it to say something to the effect of this being a forum for people from a variety of backgrounds, but focused around the CCR in the RCC. I'm really not sure the best way to do that...

Just throwing out the concerns... I'll work with whatever you guys come up with.

Greetings Rod,
We can't do it as a sticky. At this stage, staff will expect us to restrict posts to those things pertaining to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
I do think we need to be in prayer for our Persecuted brothers and sisters. Would you post this on our Prayer List, please. Some of us print up the list to keep with us as a steady reminder.

Thank you for reminding us of this special need.

I think I would add something to the effect of :

It is understood that there will be differences of opinions on various subjects relating to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Discussions of those subjects are permitted, however, any posts disparaging Catholics or the CCR will be considered off topic to the forum and will be subject to action under the sitewide rules regarding such.

Yes, the formatting will change a bit, to make sure it's consistent with the other FSGs. I didn't realize you had this discussion thread, or I would already have posted... but the draft of the updated FSGs is here. I already let your moderator know about it. You may want to take any further discussion there, so you can see what the new format and expectations are. (and so the discussion can be captured all in one thread.))

No disrespect intended Fr. but can you clarify something I don't understand please.

Does this mean your NOT in union with the Pope? I was under the impression that OC's are.

Or was the context of your statement to emphasize the ecumenical nature of the thread?

Peace.
