Ask me anything. Personal. Spiritual. etc. =)
A little back ground if you are interested.
I am an Asian and my family came from a Buddhist background. My parents weren't strong believers of Buddhism. More sort of like "I gave Buddha incenses and give the temple money. Now I will have good luck!" that kind of thing.
I had seen ghostly things when I was young. Often I would see "people" that disappear within a second, both inside my apartment and out in the garden below. However I rarely see them when I was outside the area of my apartment. These stop showing up once I moved to North America. However to this day I have no idea if they were my imagination or real.
Other than that I had seen a "black figure" once. I was in my apartment and I saw it on the street below. It appeared for a whole 30 seconds or more before disappearing around the corner of the street. There is no way it was a dog or a cat.
When I came to North America at 11 years old my parents sent me to Sunday School because they want free English Lessons for me. That's how I got into contact with Christianity.
When I was about 16 I decided to pick a religion. I assumed that all the gods out there are equally real. Which one should I follow? I decided to follow Jesus because he is the most loving God of all. No other God would allow people to humiliate him and all he said was "Father forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing."
My faith was shallow however. The sermons in my old church were not really applicable to my life. So come university I lost my faith to Atheism and evolution, even as I was still going to church for a while. God doesn't feel relevant to my life at that point.
After university I was working in a phone survey job. The job was very boring. But the benefit of this job is not everyone will be willing to answer a survey on the phone. So for long periods of time I am allowed to read. One of the books I read was A Case for Christ from Lee Strobel. The book was instrumental to bringing me back to faith. It is kind of funny that I got that book for free from a Christian organization. And now I don't even remember what that organization is.
I switch from my old church to an Alliance Church about 2 years ago. I find its sermons applicable and filled with insights.
I drive an hour to work every day. However I get to listen to many sermons and my spiritual maturity grew.
I now know that the whole law can be summed up in 3 things:
Love God in your current situation today.
Love yourself as you are today.
Love others as they are today.
I was single for a very long time. But that was God shielding me from harm when my faith was weak. I met my first ever GF when I was 31 years old, last year. Now I am dating my second ever GF and I think things are going well. I hope God continue to provide me with wisdom and strength to take care of her. Even now with all my understanding of God it is not easy to treat her well and resist temptations.
Ok that's enough for now. Ask me for other things. =)
