Cavemen

I will qualify this first by saying that i believe that God created the universe and earth and ll life forms.

I find the very notion of cavemen ridiculous and offensive! Humans were created in God's Image and Likeness, and the idea of ancient men looking like the stereotypical caveman is an insult to God! There is no such thing as a neandrothaul if we believe that humans were created to look like God! Neandruthauls are ugly and look like monkeys! The prevelence of cavemen in popular culture (like the flintstones and those stupid geiko ads) just reinforce the idea that cavemen were real, and therefore reinforce the idea that humans evolved from monkeys!

God would never create people to look like cavemen!

How do you know god doesn't look like a caveman, and man, in his arrogance, thought he could do better?

So only the beautiful are made in God's image?

Hopefully God, if there is one, is not so shallow.

I don't know, my gut reaction to Neandertals is intense curiosity. What did they look like in life, how did they think, how did they live? Why are they no longer with us? How did they interact with our ancestors?

To my mindset, it's very odd that people would find the very idea of Neandertals... disgusting? *shrug* De gustibus, I guess.

(Incidentally, I saw a paper not very long ago that examined what people thought of God's views. In general, subjects' perception of God held curiously similar views to those of the person. Does that ring a bell with anyone? I'm afraid I lost the link and don't remember title, authors or anything :( I would love to find the paper again.)

I don´t want to play the grammar Nazi, but the constant misspelling hints at a real lack of knowledge instead of a typo.

The term is "Neandertal". Some of the earliest bones of this kind of humans were found in Germany in the valley (german: Tal) of the river Neander.
A possible spelling is "Neanderthal", using the oldfashioned spelling of "Thal", which is still pronounced with a simple "t", and nothing like the english "th".

You are absolutely right.

The only primitive looking cavemen were evolutionists who hid in caves because they were afraid of the astronomical wrath of God.

"And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth." -- Isaiah, 2:19

Must've been an evolutionist in a past life and that is God's punishment. Either that or Satan created evolutionists in his image.

Personally I have nothing but admiration for our less advanced ancestors. They survived and thrived in terrible conditions, and they did it with their own courage and ingenuity. I find the image of those clever furry little fellers living in Africa and slowly developing language, tools and society empowering not insulting.

I dislike the literalist creationist view of man because Adam was a slouch who got handed language, agriculture and even metallurgy on a platter by God. Rather then having to learn and work at it for himself.

Our ancestors were more advanced not less advanced.

Both mentally and physically.

And your claim is absurd.

Claiming human beings were subhuman hairy apes, unable to walk normally and upright, unable to use their vocal chords, illiterate, mentally retarded, and essentially braindead, simply because they were born before you were, is not admiration.

It is pure Darwinian ignorance, arrogance, temporocentrism, eurocentrism, and racism.

They survived and thrived in terrible conditions, and they did it with their own courage and ingenuity.
They did it because their brains were less devolved than ours.

I find the image of those clever furry little fellers living in Africa and slowly developing language, tools and society empowering not insulting.
I find this racist Victorian Age fairy tale insane and totally incredible and unbelievable.

What's insulting is that modern humans have devolved to such a state of temporocentrism, racism, ignorance, and gullibility that they actually believe this lie.

F.Y.I. The Aryan race was not the first to think, speak, and write.

I dislike the literalist creationist view of man because Adam was a slouch who got handed language, agriculture and even metallurgy on a platter by God. Rather then having to learn and work at it for himself.
Truth isn't determined by what one likes or dislikes.

Truth is determined by evidence.

And all the evidence demonstrates that the evolutionist fairy tale of human beings as subhuman, braindead, and illiterate apes is simply a myth.

In fact, it has been shown that human beings have devolved from a past state of superior intelligence and scientific wisdom, mental superiority, and physical superiority to the current state of ignorance and pseudoscience based upon Victorian Age evolution mythology and the racist denial of global history.

I beg to differ. Simply consider the evidence.

Amen!

Cavemen were nothing more than men who lived in caves.

They were [probably] the "hippies" of their time -- i.e. runaways, just tuning out "the establishment".

Cave paintings and hippie paintings would be a good parallel, as they were probably artistic minded.

On another note, some of them were probably outcasts as well.

Diseased, anti-social, hermits, or whatever.

Jephthah reminds me of just such a person.

In any event -- good post!
