The idea of God looking like anything is rather blasphemous in my mind. I prefer to think in terms of what does truth look like or what does love look like. It is revealed in effect and affect rather than in sensory perception. I don't visualize Jesus as the physical manifestation of God so much as the embodiment of love, truth, mercy, compassion, etc. (I realize in my own mind they are the same)

Conteplating how G-d appears would not be blasphemous because it isn't spoken against G-d. Adam and Eve saw him, Moses saw Him, Jesus saw Him, it comes by honestly to wonder what it is they saw.

So if we are made in G-d's image, what are we really supposed to look like? Cavemen looked quite a bit different then we do now. We have Asians, Africans, Americans, Indians, and many more. Anyone else have wondered about this?

I like the ECUSA catechism's approach to this:

Q. What does it mean to be created in the image of God?

A. I means that we are free to make choices: to love, to create, to reason, and to live in harmony with creation and with God.

Kinda like what Qyot said.

Well I thats not entirely true. Jesus has seen the Father.
Plus Moses saw a glimpse of His glory. He didnt entirely see Him but Moses did catch that glimpse. It was more than he could handle too. :)

SEEN? How can one see that which is by definition not capable of being seen? Invisible, spirit... etc. Step out of Christian idiomatic literalism and explain...

I will give you scripture. Its right from the bible. Its not from some sermon.

This is the Lord talking to Moses.

Exodus 33:20-23

"But" he said, "You cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."

Then the Lord said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen."

Do you also want me to give you the scripture about Jesus?
