I've never heard of cat scratch fever.. What is it?

I found a pretty good article on it, taught me a bit too.
http://www.drgreene.com/21_821.html

I work at a veterinarians office as a vet assistant and as such I have been scratched a fair share, and once that I recall it was a bad enough scratch in my arm/hand that when/after I was washing it off my hand was shaking some from the cut >.<

Anyways, that I know of I haven't gotten it, though it said, "The hallmarks of cat-scratch disease are enlarged, tender lymph nodes (especially in the armpit)," which I do remember having once but didn't know what it was, it went away on it's own. I suppose it could have been this but have no proof.

As far as one of the initial questions, "and did u keep your cat if you have," I don't think it would be necessary at all to get rid of your cat.

I have included two more sites to visit if you would like some cross references and to read a little more on the topic.

Well, it has not been a fun experience to say the least. Like the article aboves states you get a swollen lymph node that is painpul & you feel like you have the flu. Very very weak. I didn't know what it was due to I had surgery & htought it may be an infection from the surgery. Oh, & I also got a bump on my htumb that looked like aspider bite or ant bite. But now I am on the right antibiotic finally.

We had taken in a stray baby kitten & he was infested with fleas & he had scratched me a pretty good bit on my hand & legs.

I've never heard of it..what state has this happening in it? I lived in Colorado and the cats could get huntavirus. It's a rodent disease. No cure.

It can happen anywhere. It is usually kittens that carry it & it is the humans response to it whether you get it or not.

yes:( our poor cats do get a lot. they are the best pets too. patches and i have had some major cuddling time since i came back home:) it's like a radar goes off in her head, and the moment i lay down on the couch, she makes this noise in her throat, and comes trotting to join me.

IT seems that around here the vets have no real answer for CSD because most people don't ever get it. and it is usually children. Fleas has a lot to do with it too from what I was reading. To which this kitty was covered with them when we got him. He has been indoors every since though. I will be getting bloodwork back this week to be 100% sure if I have/had the virus.
