  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey just out of interest, who here knows/likes The Cat Empire (preferably outside of Australia, but aussies are welcome too!)? I have a friend who is convinced no-one outside of OZ knows them...

Just went to a concert of theirs today, was in-freakin-credible. Man they are so sick, was moshing for 2 hrs straight!!! Now my legs hurt...

Hey,

Glad to see you went to a gig that was worth it! Sounded really fun, were you at the front or what? :)

I like them, wouldn't mind getting their latest album. It got good ratings in Rolling Stone  I have heard about 3 songs on Triple J, I like Protrons, Nutrons, Electrons and The Car Song. I knew that Harry had talent! Now I can hear him sing!

Wouldn't mind seeing them live too, so I am taking that they are a recommendation to see live? :p

Finally, someone who's heard of them...you guys suck, you know that don't you :)!

Yeah me and a bunch of friends were pretty close to the front, we were rockin it out so badly...it was an under 18's and one of us still tried to crowd-surf...landed on some 14 year old chick or something. He felt kinda bad...turns out that we are both friends with a girl who goes to the same school as the 'victim'...

Yeah definitly get their new album! It's really good from start to finish. It's pretty 'happy' music if you ask me but that's a nice change from Metallica and System for me...

When they are back in OZ, you would do really well to see them live! It was soooo amazing...when they get back from Europe and America they'll probably do a few gigs in Melbourne so I'll probably check them out!

The Cat Empire. I've certainly heard of them on account of the fact that I live in their hometown - Melbourne (yay!). Not a bad band - I quite enjoyed listening to them last year, but have got over them since. First album is better than the second one IMO. It is good to see some variety in style tho with the horns and stuff - hardly any bands are original these days.

My brother has their cd. I think they're alright, though not the sort of stuff that I'd mosh to myself.

Seeing as they have recently got to No.1 on the albums chart here, I'm sure that Virgin records will do the rounds with pushing them overseas.
