Yes you were, there are numerous buttons on your remote that give you the choice to watch or not watch anything you like. May I suggest the power button or the channel up/down button?
Back up the sarcasm with some common sense. If I KNEW it was going to pop on screen I would have. By the time I found the rmote it was 2 commercials later.

That's like a minute and half though and were your children crying and talking about feeling scarred? How are they today? I think if they got up in the morning went to school and they are fine as can be, it's obvious it was an overreaction. If they understood it, they've already heard worse at school from friends.

Honestly. If you're THAT concerned about your children's viewing habits, then cancel your cable television. Watch only videos, or (here's a novel thought) don't watch anything at all.

And for all of you who've never heard of Carl's Jr.: It's the same thing as Hardee's. Same big yellow star and horrible color scheme and everything.

Boy, some of you people would have heart attacks if you watch TV in NZ.

One of the shows I am working on at the moment has no less than 2 sex scenes an episode, uses realistic language that people actually saw in times of frustration. It will screen on public TV at 8:30pm I think.

Deadwood is on public TV at 9:30pm here. So is the Sopranos (when it's in season). I've seen ads on tv with sex in them. My short film, with swearing and all, played three times on public TV last year.

I've only seen snippets of the Carl's Jr. ad, but really it's so not an issue - it's just a stupid sex-sells ad.

Have to remember, America is a puritan country that shuns the human body because the worst thing that could happen is that people notice that a woman is a woman and a man is a man and that we ourselves have attractions to them.

I can understand parent groups wanting the commercial to be shown only after, say, 8pm or only with shows that have a PG13/14A rating, but to ban it altogether? For crying out loud, it's a racy ad shown during adult-oriented shows that most kids under 12 probably find boring anyways.

Doing a big "ban this racy ad" campaign just helps the ad campaign. A more sensible approach might just bring a more sensible resolution.

As I said if you are truly that offended and that concerned with what your children watch buy a DVR and filter it for them, or at least keep the remote in your hand should something that offends you pop up.

I am not a child and will not be treated as such by the state so as to make your job of filtering what your kids watch a little easier.

Now for the running tally:

Number of threads about other TV ads: 0
Number of posts about other TV ads: 0

Number of threads about Carl Jr's TV ad: 1
Number of posts about the ad: 69 and counting

Keep up the good work, we may get coupons at 100 posts.

Yeah, well here's some advice. Once you walk out of that place, you'll never want to go back.

Everything there is 10% higher than at any other fast food chain. There's a reason why they can never be a member of the "Big 3".

I believe we have an obligation to resist the things that are contrary to the Lord...

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
Rom 12:9

You don't have to be a mature Christian to realize that the ad campaign is in the gutter. So, how do we resist this work of darkness? Well, I started by emailing Carl's Jr. and telling them I won't be buying at their establishment ~ and I won't. Some people will choose to turn off their TVs and some will use the clicker when the commercials airs. Let the Lord direct their steps.

We resist, resist, resist!!!! We need a Jesus Culture not a Carl's Culture!

You'll have a tough time with that considering most U.S. businesses are in the gutter, and if not in their ad campaigns, then in their conduct. Though I would just not eat there because fast food isn't the most nutritious meal. Can't remember the last time I set foot in one.

Well, yes, you are right about that. Does that make me less obligated to resist that which the Lord directs me to resist? Not at all! I resist in what He brings to my attention, confident that He directs others in the same way but maybe to different things.

Bless you for your response!!
