Wow people getting all bent out of shape over a commercial, this is great entertainment. Go ahead boycott, it really won't do anything.

I don't eat fast food, but to be mortified over an ad, that just sounds ridiculous to me. If your kids take notice and understand the sexual subtext, they already understand sex enough that exposure to innuendo won't destroy them.

I always have to laugh at the idea that people go on rampages over sex, but violence, that's alright

I could care less if everyone gets off on her 12 yr old boy body gyrating all over the tv. My problem is that I was not given the choice to prevent my kids from seeing it. That is the big argument that is used against TV censorship. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Well in our family, the kids don't watch TV shows that are sexually suggestive OR violent. What is the point of TV ratings if the commercials are going to be Mature audience during a family show.
and please don't say that the commercial is not for mature audiences. If it wasn't, Carl's Jr. would not have paid Paris the BIG bucks to make the commercial. It crosses the line and Carl's Jr, as well as network execs should have been more sensitive to when it was aired.

There was a chance to prevent kids from seeing the commercial by not watching the show. Why is American Idol so important?

No matter what we are watching on TV, the commercials are the real movie we are watching.

We don't get a commercial programming guide. If I knew it was going to be on I would NOT have watched the show. And american idol is important because it's one of the few shows on TV that is (was) smut and violence free.

I don't think the point is this one commercial, and I have never heard nor seen Carl's Jr. I think it the constant pushing of the enevelope. Where and surely there is a line, do we draw line from what is okay and what isn't? Tough call I know and I am no prude for sure but there has got to be some line drawn in the sand saying this where you do not cross. If we keep pushing the envelope and accepting it, the line will be people having sex to sell mattresses for Sleepy's.

Paris Hilton is anything but sexy (imao) and I can't understand why it seems so many people regard her as a sex symbol.

Hear! Hear!

I think she could be a sex symbol for stick bugs.

They should have used Mimi from the Drew Carey Show. Thong bikini and all...mmm gimme some more butta!
I agree, the people that should be used in fast food commercials are the people that like to eat fast food. And I guarantee they aren't skinny.

My attitude is really suck it up. That 30-second spot isn't going to turn your children into sex fiends. If they understand the sexual nature of the commercial, then they already should have been taught about sex. Kids under 10 will not understand the sexual nature of the commercial (I believe parents give them too much credit in this area), but 12 and up will understand it, so I don't think there should really be an issue if they biologically understand something at this age.

You send your kids to school and they are going to be exposed to the world, so I say really deal with it. If they are very young, don't worry because they don't understand, if they are older they already understand so don't worry.

I think network executives need to push the envelope more, I'm tired of people trying to censor the air waves. I can be thankful at least in the animation department they are beginning to leave the "It's just for kids" attitude behind because I rather do enjoy mature themes in my programming.

But I agree with their attitude on this situation. Even if a boycott is mounted, nothing will happen.

Yes you were, there are numerous buttons on your remote that give you the choice to watch or not watch anything you like. May I suggest the power button or the channel up/down button?

Better still if you are this serious about screening what your kids watch buy a DVR, pre-record everything and filter it so as to not corrupt them.

The ad continues to work like a charm. Please note, no other ad is being discussed on the entire board, Carl's Jr is being said over and over and over.

Once more to the people who were offended thanks for making the ad so effective.

Great advice, people act as if this is Clockwork Orange and their eyelids are pulled open while they are strapped in a chair and forced to watch, change the channel, wait 30 seconds, go back to the show you were watching, I don't think it is that hard.

I say fight fire with fire, and see what happens. All these broadcasters and people that want to censor TV and say what can be shown on the air, let's see how they like it when someone says, "I am going to ban all conservative Christian shows from the air. If Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell, or any of these groups are to appear on television, then that show will not be aired. Later on we'll move on to all Christian symbolism."

I guarantee you'll see a change in response, even if people here are notwilling to admit it.
