• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Keep your day job.

I take it God hasn't called you to be a scientist?

You know --- the kind that actually goes out and sweats in the field --- not just one that sits around and gets paper cuts at his desk?

Afraid there's not enough room at the desk for both of us, AV?

It would be kind of a bummer if you lost your desk to someone with actual credentials -- for you, anyway.

Had any of those men merely said "Goddidit," and threw up their hands in futility, would they have accomplished anything?

Current bible believing people learn about God in church

As you can see from the data presented, that doesn't happen.
The facts show that people with a thorough training in "goddidit" get stuff done. These guys came through the most conservative religious colleges in the world.

Appeal to God = Success

Here's where the study of science begins, and religion flourishes.
"Cuvier was critical of the evolutionary theories proposed by his contemporaries."
"Charles Babbage made God a divine programmer"
"Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them" (Psalm 111:2).
Lord Rayleigh prefixed this text to his collected scientific papers and it is carved on the great door of the Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge.

The Facts continue no matter what the nay-sayers say.

Calling them creationists is purely misleading. They may have believed in god creating the world, but that doesn't make one a creationist in the modern sense of the word, namely 1920's sda, 1960's creationist.

You are so right. In those days they LIVED it. They learned about the Bible at home and in grade school and in public forums as well. Science was founded by religious organizations. Today's Creationists are nothing compared to those days. Still, most geneticists believe God is responsible for DNA.

I believe it is Hal Lindsey that believes Isaac Newton is the culmination point between science and Christianity.

Up to, and including, Isaac Newton, God was given the pre-eminence in science.

After that, science started edging God out of the picture.

Yes, they were wrong, obviously. Notice how they've.....

Special Creationists who really believe Goddidit in 7 days.

Carl B. Fliermans (Microbiology) is a microbial ecologist with Dupont. His B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. are from Asbury College, University of Kentucky, and Indiana University, respectively. With over 60 technical publications, he is an adjunct professor at seven state universities and consultant to many scientific organizations.

Wayne Frair (Biology) served ten years as Chairman of the Biology Department at The King's College in New York. He has a B.S. from Wheaton College, an M.A. from the University of Massachusetts, and the Ph.D. from Rutgers. He has specialized in herpetology, has over 40 research papers, and has served as President of the Creation Research Society.

Kelly Hollowell (Molecular Biology) has a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology from the University of Miami. She is also an attorney (J.D.) as well as a consultant for various laboratories and companies, with a number of publications in the fields of DNA technology, cloning, and neurobiology.

Been dead for about a century now? No.

After that, science started edging God out of the picture.

Just off the front page is all.

And Lindsey's opinion is worth what, exactly?

Hal Lindsey needs to read more.

Isaac Newton was an Arian heretic.

And even then, these believers came up with naturalistic and empirical results. They did not resort to Goddidit. By comparison, today's creationists are a bunch of amateurs.

So..an actual scientist rather than a creationist with nothing better to do?

Sure am.
