  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

They are not in too much pain after it is done - make sure to ask the nurse at the hospital to show you how to take care of it - it's not that hard, basically keep the area clean and then gobs tons of vaseline on it so it doesn't stick to the diaper. One thing I would suggest, that they didn't tell, but that i did anyway because it looked weird, was when you change the diaper, each time, continue to push the foreskin back so that it doesn't reattach. My nephews reattached and then the ped. just kind of push it back on his own and the little one was not to happy.

My first question to you would be, why are ya gonna have em do it? I find when I ask folks that they really cain't anwser wit any real reasons, so I'd be curious why ya'll wanna do it. I'd also have to disagree wit it don't hurt much ............................................................................ I uh... I don't know bout that one mysef... I think it hurts a lot! I watched 3 of my younger brothers get chopped an it hurt! An then for a good week afterwards they hurt, not as bad mind you, as an older male would be though. As far as care goes, I member maw had alot of naked time fur em to, she used to have this cloth thngy that was water proof an the like an she'd let em lay out on th thin.

Use lots of vaseline! It is sore for about 2-3 days, but keeping it from sticking to the diaper (thus the vaseline) is the main thing to do. Otherwise it doesn't seem to bother the baby

I said in another thread on circumcision, that it really seems to make a difference also on when you get it done. The 8th day after birth is the best time as far as pain tolerence and blood clotting go.

My son had a plastic ring thingy that kept it from healing back together for the first few days. Once the ring fell off there was little danger of it re-attaching. Vasaline is a must.
As for why we had it done--at the time there were a lot of medical studies showing a link between circumsion and better health later in life for a variety of reasons.

Nope.. they don't numb a thin, not so any of the ones I ever seen er heard of... you will NOT want to stand there when they do it... my maw used to leave me their to "comfort" my brothers an she'd leave...... I cain't be to scientific with it here but the jes of it is.... they lay em in a tray, grab his talley whacker, separte the still attached foreskin with their hands, place the ring in, use a string er what is probably used now is a piece of rubber nylon, tie it off tight.... that normally hurts like a son-of-a-gun... an then they take a knife an cut it off.... wait til the bleedin stops clean him up an give em back to you again.

I'm cut to an I won't tell off someone who does it, though I do ask why is all. Given the choice I'd jes assume not seeins how we cain't find anythin in the new covenant that requires us to do so. Which is the reason I asked why ya'll was wantin to do it was all. There's of course two sides to ever coin an some are for some are against I jes worry bout the ones who do it simply cause "it's th thin to do", which is what my folks did... an there was 6 boys... ya kinda woulda figured someone at some point would have questioned "why are we subjectin our kids to this?"

Yes, there are different kinds of circs. And if you talk to the doc who is doing it, some will use numbing stuff. I recommend the bell method. Both my boys were done with that. There is little concern of anything. You clean it and then it will fall off. ONE THING, when it is attached by only ONE little section, DON'T PULL ON IT! I looked at my husband and said, "it's only that little part, I could just pull it off really quickly", My husband threw a fit, he ordered me not to touch it. So anyway, you just wait for it to fall off.

There are different ways to do it. It just depends on what your ped. prefers. My 1st son had the ring, but my 2nd didn't. I thought the ring was slightly easier to take care of, but neither one of them was difficult. Just make sure you pull the skin back every time you change the diaper. I didn't do it far enough with one of mine and the ped. pulled it back at a check up. My son was not happy. Good luck.

My son (who will be 5 in April) was circd. Yes they will numb him, I asked to double check and my ped said that they don't do them without using the numbing gel anymore. They called me about 15 minutes before they came to get him, I nursed him well and he fell asleep. They only had him for about 15 20 minutes before they brought him back to me still sound asleep. I asked the nurse if they didn't do it because he was still sleeping, she laughed and told me he slept through the whole thing.
My son didn't have any type of ring or anything on him. We were instructed to reapply neasporin (sp?) at every diaper change (it works like vaseline in keeping the diaper from sticking but also promotes healing) and not to touch him, or push anything back etc. My ped informed us if there was any problem with the way things were healing he would see it at the 1 week check up.
Your ped should give you instructions on care before you leave the hospital. We didn't have any problems with Caedmons Circ., and we didn't notice any additional discomfort for him once we got home from the hospital.

THanks for asking that. It just now dawned on me after a week of knowing I have a little boy baking that I will have to go through with the circumcision.
hubby says he will have to have it done. I dont argue b/c its his area;)
I thought they used a numbing cream on all patients now days. I will have to remember to ask his ped about that.
