  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know I'm not the only one who is in an online/long-distance relationship and I know how hard they can be. However, one thing I know makes them easier and more fun is care packages. Does anyone have any ideas on care packages?

I'm sending my online beau a care package containing Real Hero fragrance, body/hair wash, deodorant, and after-shave conditioner. I think I'll send him a few photos of myself, too.

Any other care package ideas?

A nice hand-written letter may be a given, but I think it's worth mentioning. :) Also you could send him an article of your clothing, and NO I don't mean the bad kind lol. My online boyfriend sent me one of his favorite t-shirts once. Hmm, what are some other ideas... Well I like to be as creative as possible. I think there are places that will make special candy hearts with personalized messages on them (I'm looking into this one right now actually). You could put together a special tape or CD with you guys' favorite songs, or just some songs that remind you of him and your relationship. If you have an artistic talent you could try using it to make a special gift. Personalized stuff always goes over great. Anyway good luck with the care package & I'm sure he'll love whatever you send!

Oh Carri, I want to so bad! I subscribe to an online music service, but don't have a CD burner on my PC! My mom has a friend that has one, though, so maybe I could use his... another stupid thing is that it's free to download most of the music, but you have to pay 89 cents for each song you burn. Soo stupid! :p

Okay, so I never sent my bf care packages b/c we live only an hour apart and we see each other every weekend. But, whenever we give each other gifts for birthdays, Christmas, and anniversaries, I always try to pay attention to his interests. For example, my boyfriend loves cars, especially corvettes. So for his birthday this year, I found him a Corvette clock on sale (for 2 dollars! and it chimes corvette motor sounds) and a Corvette mug (he drinks coffee at work all the time, so I thought that a mug would be great for him to take to work and it combines two things he likes). I think that paying attention to little details like that really means a lot. It shows that you do care about his interests and hobbies. I don't know what your bf is into, but I think it is possible to do something similar (and on a smaller scale, if necessary).
