Capturing Fog

Does anyone have any tips on how to get great pics when it's foggy? I was out for HOURS this morning taking pics, and I'm just not very fond of most of them.

I will say this... next time I'm taking my tripod with me! I'm sure if I had the chance to mess around with my time values they may have come out nicer.

You already have the right idea... bring the tripod.

Also, some days are just better than others. lol

Any reason why some days are better than others? That one day in particular the fog was extremely dense.

I always enjoy seeing other people's fog pics where the fog looks more like mist. I am assuming thsoe are the better fog days?

I actually meant that more as an excuse for photographer error than the fog itself. lol Some days I couldn't shoot the broad side of a barn.

But while on the topic of fog, yeah there are certain weather conditions that are more conducive to the formation of fog.

One reason I love fog in particular is because it helps indicate the condition of the atmosphere and means there is a very low temperature/dew point spread. For airplanes that means a lot of vapor coming off of lifting surfaces like propellers, wingtips, rotors, engine intakes, etc.
