  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I bought one when I was pregnant with my daughter. Well, I actually rented it but then decided to keep it. Funnily enough I didn't use it as much as I thought I would. I only used it really between weeks 10-20 approx. with my pregnancies cos before then you can't hear the heart beat and after then you can feel the baby moving so know everything is ok. One thing I did do though with the doppler was record the baby's heart beat onto the computer as a keepsake. I still need to do that with baby #3 and I'd better hurry up cos I only have a couple weeks left!

I have a microphone plugged into my computer and just put it next to the doppler speaker and used the Windows Wave Recorder to record it.

I tried to use one when I was doing my maternity placement, I didn't have any luck using it myself, but the next night the midwife had a go and got it.

I think that they tend to be a bit tricky to use initially, but once you get the hang of it, it should be lovely!

Bubs doesn't like it though, now when I get it done at the Dr's he tries to kick it off! :)

I am not very comfortable with the idea of my unborn babies being exposed to doppler waves (worse than ultrasound) on a regular basis... please be careful
I agree. I used it more with my daughter before I did any research on dopplers and ultrasounds. I think I used it 3 times when I was pregnant with my son - once at around 12 weeks to put my mind at rest because I hadn't heard the heart beat yet and heard it much sooner with my daughter. Once at around 25 weeks because I hadn't felt the baby kick for quite a while so I wanted to check that everything was ok. And then once a couple days before he was born just so I could record the heart beat. With this pregnancy I've used it only once at around 11 weeks to find the heart beat and I will dig the doppler out one more time before the due date to record the heart beat. So yeah, do some research on dopplers/ultrasounds before you go crazy listening to the heart beat several times a day.

Yeah I agree. A ton of the mothers in my due date club have rented them and something just didn't seem right about it. So I asked my doctor and, including what you mentioned above, she also said that it can be really hard to find the heart beat sometimes and that causes unnecessary worry and stress for a mom when she can't find it.
