maybe if people repeat this enough times in front of a mirror they may just start to beleive it.....
I agree with both of you.
We live in a point and click, three minute microwaved baked potato culture.
We demand instant gratification and sometimes, the payoff is not immediate.
Look at it this way: Do you want to judge the success of WWII on the first six months of that war?
We suffered a horrendous defeat at Pearl Harbor, one that we were in no way prepared to fight.
Wake Island was captured within a week and was such a blowout that the Marines, for the first time in their history, were forced to surrender.
Our first three naval battles were disasters.
We came very close to losing the Solomons and even when we did take them, we only held on to them by the skin of our teeth.
Thank God that we didn't have the same mindset then that we do today.
Now, one piece of legislation fails: We're doomed!
One car bomb: We're all going to die!
One bad situation: I give up!
Folks, our problems did not spring up overnight and they will not be solve overnight.
Nothing good ever came easy and nothing worth holding onto ever came without a fight.
The 12volt_man in me says, "if your attitude is to leave when the going gets tough, then leave". The Ronald Reagan in me says, "when the going gets tough, the tough get going".
When I played football at my little "second tier school" we had a sign over the lockerroom door that said, "If it is to be, it's up to me".
Don't leave. Don't cry. Get in there and fight for what you believe in.
