• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Well, I'm still fighting with smoking, It seems that it's the only thing I have to calm me down. My husband just quit about 4 weeks ago and He keeps on me all the time but, I'm not ready, I think that's why I don't really pray on it. I don't want to stop. I do know I have to ( health wise ) but, for now I like it.. Please pray that I change some how and want to stop because that is a whole lot better to quit if you want to than if you don't!!

Trust in God. Pray for assistance. I know it is hard to over come addiction but KEEP FIGHTING. Remember, you are not alone. If you feel your self weaking, take refuge in God. Run away from the temptation. Also, keep yourself occupied. This will make it so that you don't think about smoking as much and think about your life more.

Can you add me and my husband to the list, please?

I kinda want to quit and sorta don't want to, but when he comes home from work with a pack from the gas station or lights up one right in front of me... It's hard not to.
Otherwise, I usually do not light up unless he buys a pack.

My husband is not ready to stop, but he has smoked since he was around 8ish or 9ish, give or take. If and when he stops, I hope he has enough energy that he won't go back to it!

I like to use this excuse alot too, but then I always remember a statement I once read that said "we should realize that non-smokers handle all kinds of stressful situations without smoking, so why do we think we couldn't handle them too!"
Sometimes I really don't like my memory. :sigh:
