• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Depression is a monster and I'm sorry you've been feeling like this

There are many ways on battling it:
Talk therapy. I suggest seeing someone, because it does help to just let it all out.
Meditation.
Running and exercising in general is supposed to help as well.
Medication if you think you need it. With those, it takes trial and error and about a month.
Teas. St John's Warts is supposed to be effective. As well as general teas.
Petting an animal. (personal preference to be honest. my cat makes me feel happier)
Talking to a friend. Like above, just talking can really help.
Changing your diet. What you intake can really affect your moods too. Especially if you're not getting enough protein.
Sunlight. This is one of the biggest factors. Are you getting enough?
Lavender is supposed to also help with relaxation.

These are just a few.

As for sleep, take a warm bath if possible, there is a melatonin drink now that's supposed to help, called Neuro Sleep. Don't lay in bed, get up and do something else (non stimulating. read a boring book or watch a boring documentary) until you feel sleepy and then lay back down, or do deep breathing exercises. If this persists, I really recommend seeing someone about it because insomnia is a side effect of depression, and the depression part does need to be dealt with.

It's good you're reaching out now. Maybe others have better advice to offer but these are the things I can think of off the top of my head.

 good luck.
