Hey Guys,

I was talking with my friend yesterday about Christ's death and where He went when He died. I am a pretty new Christian so I'm a little sketchy about remembering scripture. At some point I remember Jesus going into Hell and preaching among the foresaken. When i told my friend this she said she had never heard of that before. If anyone knows of these verses it would really help. I've been looking for about three hours now and remembered i have a whole family online that will help me too. So once again anything would help. I love all of you guys and this forum specfically has really helped me solidify a lot of things i had questions about. Thanks

Lyle

The Bible says at least three (3) times in the new Testiment... "The Just shall live by faith.." When Christ died, could it have not put paid for their sins which had been laid aside as well? For you'll read in Hebrews that it was by faith Abraham was saved... And that even now we are saved through faith... Hmmmm, random musings.

But I have to say, in greek, the word for the "lower portions of the world," is, if I'm not mistaken, the word ofr Hades.....

Are you looking for the passage that says He preached to the spirits in prison?

1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

1Pe 3:19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Peace in Him!

What about John 5:25?

25I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. (NIV)

And it's Hades that he preaches in, not Hell (Lake of Fire).

Also, in Revelation 20, Hades is emptied, everyone is checked against the Lamb's Book of Life and then Hades is thrown into Lake of Fire along with everyone who is not in the Lamb's Book.

And Lyle, instead of being vague how about if you explain your complaint, so that we all might learn from your insight?

To the sounds of it, this person is putting forth the question: Are you saved? Then gives answer that would imply that we are already saved... This wouldn't be so bad if this wasn't a Message Board used by both Christians and Non-Christians (i.e It could lead those who aren't into thinking they already are saved)..

Rom. 8:24
This passage states that we are saved by hope in the sacrifice of Christ...

Eph. 2:5–8
This is speaking of Grace and being brought alive in the Spirit by it...

1 Cor. 1:8
This verse speaks of Christ present the Christian perfect and holy before god, in the end.

2 Cor. 2:15
This speaks of the victory of the sacrifice of Christ

Phil. 2:12
if you read the next verse, it's speaking of god working through us... This is probably the closest to being right, but still off.

Rom. 5:9–10
We are saved through Christ's sacrifice....

1 Cor. 3:12–15
This is not even speaking of salvation....

Rom. 5:2,
We are saved through faith and grace... Grace cannot flow without faith.

2 Tim. 2:11–13
This speaks of our daily Spiritual walk with Christ and new life in Christ
