Canoeing is great, I go a couple times each year with my Boy scout troop, in fact we just went last weekend. There's a place called Mohican Wilderness, its on the Mohican river in Ohio, and we get to canoe ten miles, unless weather causes the water to be too high, in which case we canoe the five miler. A friend and I did the ten miler in 1 hour and 39 minutes for the race. Next year we plan on getting first place though.

I used to go canoeing a lot years ago but after I got married my wife was too sacred of tipping over and would not go so I just quit. My favorite trips were two separate trips through the Okeefenokee swamp in Southern Georgia. They were both week long trips around 60 miles each through some of the most beautiful landscape I've ever seen.

I now have two kayaks and my daughter and I go on day trips pretty often and we are going on a week long trip to the Croatan National Forest the first week of June. < can't wait>

been rafting once, hoping to go again when we go to BC this summer.

As for canoeing, I tried it last year, I liked it.

Funy story, the weekend i discovered canoeing I did it a lot that weekend..it was a long weekend, so I was up north for quite a few days and was driving home with some extended family on Wednesday cuz I had a baseball game that night.

So I wake on Wednesday and my whole upper body is just killing and I have no clue why...so then I went down to the water and I saw the canoe, and I'm like, 'Ahhhhhhh.' :D

I grew up canoeing. My brother in law and his friend organize a trip every year. We started with about 10 people now we have about 75 that go. We canoe rivers in Michigan. I only get to go when I have the time to travel all the way back there now.

I've done class 3 rapids...that's about as crazy as I've been.

The men's group from our church went canoing on the Pine river (in Michigan) this past saturday. That was fun trip. A lot faster river than the Huron near where I live.
Tell ya what...the Muskegon River was a real yawn. The rifle is a decent river, the Au Sable is good to relax on...calm but very scenic.

I think the most fun we had was on the Platte (Michigan, not Colorado) There's a Platte river here in Colorado that's more famous as gold medal trout waters. The Michigan Platte is winding, somewhat fast and has obstacles (fallen trees etc.) It was a real challenge with a ton of steering and no portage. It empties into Lake Michigan which provides an awesome end to the trip. We took the canoes out into the waves...what a riot.

Not many crocs where I canoe. Muskies might pose a problem if they're hungry enough.
