I understand that eating something that could make one loose faith is a sin.

But would Cannibalism itself be a sin?
This would exclude murdering a person....assume the person suicided....
Greetings Icystwolf,

And what do you think about this verse:

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Does your question fall into any of these categories?

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

THIS IS SO SICK!!!!!!!  I can't believe that anyone could think about such a terrible thing... I guess there's a few things that come to mind...

The Donar Party, traveling the oregon trail got trapped in the mountains, and ate their dead as means of survival... The fact is, once a person dies, to the dust they return; the soul is nolonger there, and they are merely matter going back to it's original state. So technically, no, it's not wrong to eat a dead person... But would you eat your own fecies? This sort of thing falls into the same category, I'd say...

EDIT: On second thought, I suppose there are some other issues that come into play, such as human reverance and the sacred nature of life... But anyway, sick, sick... There's no way I'd eat a friend, even if I knew I'd starve otherwise... This is so depraved...

Heh, somebody's been reading Heinlein again, right? ;)

Ritual cannibalism is documented as a tradition among many "primitive" cultures, often not with any negative connotations, but with the idea of consuming a small portion of a deceased, respected person enabling one to share in his/her virtues.

It would be prohibited by a number of quite clear commands in the O.T., and presuming these to belong to the moral law they would carry over into Christianity. This is presuming that you hold to that definition of the applicability of law -- something never brought to a consensus view.

I'd also say that it's a strong category for "ick" qualification, though I've tried to respond as objectively as possible.

Yes, it's a sin. It's the highest form of lust on earth.
Please explain...how, why and scriptures?

It's interesting that everyone else here can think that it's "Sick", but I think they're having the same emptiness that I cannot find a plausable reason to think why cannibalism is a sin.

Sex is tasting each other's flesh. Think about it. It's like kissing. Guy has a tongue, girl has lips, they kiss, combine flesh, taste each other. Mouth is just another part of the puzzle, it's on the other end of the body. But, the deal is the same. Guy kiss girl again, tongue and lips. Now, that's not good enough for the guy, he bites. They want to eat flesh. It's lust. Want to understand it better, you'll have to interview the German Cannibal on trial now. He can explain better than anybody. The rest of us have "inhibitions", from our social conditioning, that prevent us from understanding emotionally. So, we have to work it out by examining the process analytically like I just did. The Bible condemns all lust.
