  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've always wanted to start! I saw in a magazine at work a fish bowl candle. They used a little clear fish bowl, and put in some marbles and fake fish, and use the clear stuff, and had a wick and all. I can't imagine it could be burned, though....lol.
I actually work in a craft store....but I guess I never really learned how to make candles. Any tips?

I used to make candles eons ago. It is really fun. There are additives you can buy so that the candles last longer when you burn them. There were some amazing molds back then, and I imagine similar things can be found today. Good luck with your hobby! :)

I'm happy! I found 2 girls that love to make candles like me. I just made a pillar tonight for mothers day. I have a kit and you have this urn that you plug in and put the wax chips in or even old candles(take the wick out though or it will plug your urn) and you heat to a liquid then turn the valve to open and it will pour into your mold. I have to buy long wicks to make pillars and the kit came with a wire to hold the wick in the center as you pour. I put scents in that come in wax and you break it off. I love this hobby and hope to start crafting my own and designing molds.

That's what my kit has but no directions.Just a thin metal rod that fits in the grooves so thanks I didn't know why that was there.I have made 1 candle so far but had to hold the wick and candle votive in place because my machine has this groove to set a certain holder in. I had to use potholders..this thing gets boiling hot.I'm searching for the manufactor.
