Hello everyone! Before I tell my story I would like to thank you all in advance for your Prayers! Every prayer counts! Also, for a daily update on my struggles I have a Caring Bridge site. www.caringbridge.org/mn/derekh.
First of all let me tell ya a little about myself. Im currently 18 (17 when I was diagnosed). Im 65, 320 pounds. I also play football. My left knee started to bother me during the football season. I saw the trainer and he gave me a knee brace for the season. He didnt think my knee was that much of a concern, for I was a big guy.
After the football season my knee started to feel better, so I never went to a doc. Around March I started going to the gym. Being a big guy, I could max out all of the leg machines, and on the free weight leg press I was lifting 350 pounds. Needless to say my knee started to bug me again, but we still didnt think much of it.
In April it was still bugging me, and it had actually given out on me before, so I went to the doc. In the middle of April an MRI was done, and a tumor was found in my knee. Things went quickly, and on April 25th I had a biopsy and was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, bone cancer.
Ill update more later, but check out my Caringbridge, and ask me if ya have any questions! Thanks again for the Prayers!
