• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello everyone! Before I tell my story I would like to thank you all in advance for your Prayers! Every prayer counts! Also, for a daily update on my struggles I have a Caring Bridge site. www.caringbridge.org/mn/derekh.

First of all let me tell ya a little about myself. I’m currently 18 (17 when I was diagnosed). I’m 6’5, 320 pounds. I also play football. My left knee started to bother me during the football season. I saw the trainer and he gave me a knee brace for the season. He didn’t think my knee was that much of a concern, for I was a big guy.

After the football season my knee started to feel better, so I never went to a doc. Around March I started going to the gym. Being a big guy, I could max out all of the leg machines, and on the free weight leg press I was lifting 350 pounds. Needless to say my knee started to bug me again, but we still didn’t think much of it.

In April it was still bugging me, and it had actually given out on me before, so I went to the doc. In the middle of April an MRI was done, and a tumor was found in my knee. Things went quickly, and on April 25th I had a biopsy and was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, bone cancer.

I’ll update more later, but check out my Caringbridge, and ask me if ya have any questions! Thanks again for the Prayers!

Have you looked into any "alternative" forms of treatment? My brother-in-law had brain cancer (ran in his family) and he went here:
http://www.eden-valley.org/lifestyle-center.htm

After four weeks 5 of the 7 tumors he had were gone and the remaining ones were smaller! His doctors were astounded but refused to believe that he was being cured - for they had already given him less then 4 months to live. After leaving the facility he decided he didn't want to follow the diet Eden Valley put him on, the diet that was curing him, and he died 6 months later. Oh, I wish he hadn't been so stubborn - else my sister wouldn't be a widow right now. But the point is Eden Valley has a very good record for curing cancer without using chemo-therapy or other invasive means.

While alternative treatments can be benificial to cancer patients, the should not just walk away from conventional medical treatment without sound medical advice.

Yeah, I'm definately sticking to the conventional treatment! My treatment is going well, if not a little rough, which is expected. And my Oncology surgeon is one of the best in the country! I feel that God will heal me! He will either heal me through the medical community, or He may use suoernatural means. I have faith that will be healed!

Mate! It's awesome to see the amazing attitude to it all..

I know i don't know you but i'll be praying for you! I've read a little of your journal and i just see the attitude of a girl who had cancer where i live recently....
Um a little about her story, she had it return after remission and ended up passing away... but the fact remains, she got the better deal, she went to heaven so happy, having seen angels, and i just went WOW! You may find somedays you have it so hard, but you are so lucky as well... I read taht journal and see the charactor of god showing through... and after all isn't the relationship with God all life is about..

God loves you SOOoo much, and i'm praying for you...

If you want to be truly inspired, go to Toireasa's Dream~ she was dx'd with neuroblastoma stage 4 cancer at the age of 3, and died at the age of 5. I've talked with her mom a couple of times, and right now her mom is training to be a pediatric oncology nurse in memory of her daughter.

If I had NOT learned of her daughter's courage, I would not have been able to deal with cancer (which thankfully I didn't) when I had my hysterectomy 3 years ago. I dealt with it far better than my mother who ironically, is a cancer survivor.

warning: you'll never be the same when you're done reading Toireasa's journal.

I feel that God will heal me! He will 'either' heal me through the medical community, 'or' He may use supernatural means. I have faith that will be healed!

Aye, little *faithFULL* child of Jesus, I say 'more :)power to you'. verily, what did Christ say to those healed?: "thy FAITH hath made thee (what?) *whole*'. Yeah,
now Jesus wasn't just mentioning any ole beliefs/faith, no.
He referenced 'with ALL! thy soul-Mind-body' kinda earth-moving faith. This kind
being 'the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not yet seen.' - That's right, *Absolute-faith*= what you, Ephstruth, continue exercising :D.

Now, in light of the fore-going, let me ask you:
1. on your web-site, you wrote in capital letters: 'Jesus RAISED PEOPLE FROM THE DEAD!'. (re the widow's son already in his coffin <--- That's, btw, is a feat beyond madical doctors). Yet, in your post here,
you say : "
God will heal me 'either' through the medical community".
So, my 1st. question is: since God's powers far/way-Exceed those of madical-doctor's, how did you conclude God needs their assistance, to do His work for you ?
And
2. Currently (& I know how children grow that way), your own limited understanding of how God can work, is by boxing yourself in with 'either, or'. Yet, why would you limit Christ like that ?, considering
He's created withIN each of us, another way accessible for your *Wellbeing*.

In other words, might you, Ephstruth, stand to additionally benefit by *Opening your MIND* (God blessed each of us with before the foundations of this world was laid), so you can begin to learn some of the nigh unlimited abilities God already pre-programmed us with, and which are waiting quietly within you... for *shaping successfully  your new realities*.

I do wish you Well !, and ALL the Best !

Praise God for your faith...keep that faith. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with Osteochondroma in my right humerus...through lots of prayer when I went in to have surgery they removed the tumor and NO EVIDENCE OF CANCER praise God he did the work before I went in and he will do the same for you..I will keep you in my prayers.

God Bless

Diane
