  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you mean by the thought: "ultimate reconcilliation", being saved fully forever, I know of many who believe that by being "born again" (John 3). Such an expression as you state, however, is not scriptural.

I have many friends in and around Toronto who are "born again" and devoted to the Lord.

Are there any believers in ultimate reconciliation in and around the greater Toronto area?

Also, where would I find all the people on this forum who believe ultimate reconciliation?

Thanks too all who who can offer some assistance,

In Christ,

Mike

Please pardon my ignorance, what exactly is "ultimate reconcilliation?"

ecclesasties,

The "ultimate reconcilliation" is refering to the restitution of all things (acts 3:21) when "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;" Phil 2:10

Basically those who hold to the ultimate reconciliation view believe that God's judgments are remedial, that Jesus has the power to save everyone " each in his own order" 1 Cor 15:23.

That God is love, and love never fails.
" For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." 1 Cor 15:22

This would mean that I, and anyone who holds this view, do not believe eternal torment is scriptural. Yes the word "hell" can be found in many translations, but there are many other translations that do not have it.

That is it in a very small nutshell, it is one of the most illuminating truths of the scriptures.

If you have any other questions fell free to ask.

In Christ,

Mike

Mike,
I have heard this "There is no Hell; therefore no torment" theory from a couple of the cults but didn't know there were any Christians that subscribed to that belief.
If you are correct in your belief, then you have nothing to fear or worry about; whether you are a christian or not.
If there is no Hell and I am not saved by God's Grace, then why should I care?
The Bible does give more than a couple of instances where Jesus makes reference to damnation and torment and because HE is the one who purchased MY SALVATION with HIS own BLOOD, then I think I shall put my trust in HIM to believe what HE has said.
If I am wrong to put my trust in HIM for what HE has said in scripture (and it would appear that you think I am) then I cannot be held responsible for this error.
My belief in Hell and/or torment does not make me fear that I shall be going there but rather it does give me a great passion for those who are lost and I am not prepared to wink at sin because there may not be a Hell for the ungodly lost sinners of this world.

"ALL scripture is given by inspiration and is profitable for doctrine etc....."

Would you like me to print out all the scripture that refer to Hell, torment. the lake of fire etc.....?

There have been times when I have wished that your theory was the correct one but as I said earlier, "If there is no Hell then we have nothing to fear".

Maranatha.
G.

I can see from your post that you are devoted to the Lord and that is really great to see. I appreciate your wanting to defend the truth.

I must though clear up your understanding of universal reconciliation. There will be judgment, and that will include torment, so you can still have fear, if you like.

The good news is that God's righteous judgments are remedial, they make things right. He will draw all men, through purifying fires, until we are made perfect in Christ. Christ has completed the work on the cross, we are saved by the blood of the lamb, He is our redeemer.

Was Adams sin more powerful than Christ work on the cross?
1Cor15:22

So your passion for those who are lost is rightly placed, it is a fearful thing to be in the hands of the living God.

God is love, Love never fails, He will be All in All.

Thanks for your reply,

In Christ,
