[FONT=Arial,Helvetica][SIZE=-1]Can you handle the truth? 24% believe Jesus Christ committed sins. 30% believe that Jesus Christ never had a physical resurrection. 31% believe that a good person can earn his/her way into heaven. 53% believe that the Holy Spirit doesn't exit? Can you handle the truth? Is your life "open" to the truth? Is the truth "operative" and "observable" in your life? This study of 2 John will open the truth up to you so that you ... can "Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth." This is what happens when the Creeds are ignored in favor "the Holy Spirit will guide and protect my interpretation."

Orthodox Christian belief does have red lines...some folks don't like to hear it because it restricts their ability to believe whatever they want.

Very sad...very telling.

Agreed.

And I also would like to know the source and precentages of what. Is it a percentage of those who responded to a poll? Is it supposed to represent all of humanity?

Forgive me...

What is "this study of 2 John"? What are you quoting from? It is best to give a link or something when you are quoting from something because this statement does not make much sense on it's own nor does it give where the "statistics" are taken from making it a rather meaningless quote. Can you please put the link it is from? That will help people to understand it better.

How far can one deviate from the truth and still call it truth?

Truth is a whole. Any deviation nulls it being truth.

Forgive me...
'Deviation' from a particular line of reasoning doesn't necessarily null its truth value. We can describe Bernie as a homo sapiens or as a human being, because the two terms whilst not being mutually exclusive, are neither co-referential-

When dealing with absolutes any deviation creates a different thing.

I can not tell you 1000 truths about Christ and tell you one untruth and still call it the Truth.

You are speaking of lines of reasoning. I am speaking about absolutes. :)

Forgive me...

I disagree. It is possible to know one truth, and for it to be the same as another truth, but that they are both known in a different sense. This admits of absolutes, but also of sense - knowing one sense doesn't entail that said absolute is known in another. A different sense would be something of a 'deviation'.

24% of what? 30% of what? 31% of what? 53% of what? And where's the source for these figures?
47% of statistics are flawed. 132% of people know that, but only 142% will admit it.

there is lies, Damn lies, and statistics.

sigh.... there is variation of belief within "Orthodox" Christianity as well. For Pete's sake, you have two "Orthodox" churhes who are in schism over those things, both stating that they are tip-toeing merrily between those red lines. A creedal statement doesn't correct mankind's patented ability to ignore what he wants to ignore, or believe what he wants to believe.

51% of people agree with me. :p

which, I gather, why your church simply must claim that it is 100% right.

Notional Christians represent 39% of the population. (2005)

Barna usually does good job of designing and administering polls to get decent (trustworthy) results....at least that's been my experience with them in the past.

Most of Orthadox Christianity has no idea of Gods true intentions towards human Kind.....because they are reading sombody elses interpretation of what was originaly written in the NT, and led by blind men, who lead them around in circles going no where.

Plus God has shut them up in disobedience...that he may show mercy to them also...

The few that know the Truth and reveal it have financial support with drawn from their Ministries...because they do not preach what has always been taught....or what people want to hear...Carlton Pearson was the last one that happened too....

He has a new and Growing Ministry by the way now.

The only useful absolute is a flexible absolute, IMO.

Life is lived in moments, no monet is the same, no person is the same, an absolute must be applied within each moment rather than enforced from without.

Truth is lived in relationship. Relationship and life evolve.
