Can we please try to lobby for a better name for this forum?

Does anyone else think that "Midlife Christians" forum sound remarkably similar to Midlife Crisis?

Anyone have any suggestions for a better name for this forum?

Or am I the only one who thinks the name of this forum is a bit of a put down compared to the honor inspiring name the 50 and over forum got?

I mean seriously! :D

"Over the Hill"?

"Pre-geriatric"?

"I Shoulda Dunnit Differently"?

 (I REALLY wish there was a "rolling eyes" smiley!);)

Yeah, when I first glanced at the announcement, I thought we were in "crisis" also! LOL

I know! The first thing I thought of when I read it was that either it was a "Freudean Slip" or someone was an age bigot! :D

Hey, Laurenda, I like the "Fabulous Forties" suggestion.
Thanks! :amen:

I just think that at a Christian Forum the Forties Forum should be an encouragement. And it starts with a good title in my opinion. Most of the people I know our age don't think of their life as being half over. I was just hoping we could lobby the webmaster for a title that would better convey a spirit of seasoning and confident optimism.

Here's another suggestion:
Faith-filled Forties (<---kind of like this one)

Any other suggestions?

I like Fabulous Forties too.

I'm going to ask that a poll, including all of the suggestions, be created for us. Then, I'll suggest the new name in the Suggestions forum. ;)

I'll post a link to the poll when I have one. ;) Apparently they don't let regular members create polls anymore.

I sent a p.m. to Droobie to post a poll. (regular members like me, can't do this anymore) But, am still waiting for a reply.

Asked in the suggestion forum, if after we get a concensus on what name the forum would like, would they change it. Someone on staff posted that Erwin said (he qualified this with the word "unofficially") he would, if the majority wanted it.

I like that Ritz. And I think you're right. Most of us will remember the Brat Pack. Good suggestion.

Sure, they listen. This isn't the first time something like this has been done. If I remember correctly, the forum for people over 50, used to be called something else. And a few other forums have asked for name changes and had their request granted as well. It all depends on whether enough people want it or not.

Well, maybe I should explain why I care. I'm a young 42. I have a young marriage and young children. The people in my family, generally live past 100. So, at 42, the whole midlife crisis thang conveys a negative image about being 40 something, that I just don't identify with.

And thankfully, there are a few other people who want something a little more possitive and fun.

I appreciate your voting despite your not caring. Thank you.

I agree with you all 40 is not all that bad. People in my family also have long lives too. on my moms side one of my aunts lived til she was 98 years most of them lived well into their 80's. My mom was just shy of her 83rd birthday. My dad's side of the family life is not as long , however my grandma live into her 90's but most of them lived in til their 80,s my dad is 82. both my parents come from the Netherlands
