Can we call a 30 day truce on reporting...

In all conflicts and battles there was always a period where both sides would take time out from the struggle for a period of truce, for negotiations, exchance of prisoners, or even for the holidays...

The reportees have worn out the report button, every form of insult, attack or revenge has been extracted, the mods are worn to a nub, there is nothing else to be gained from reporting each other. Lets call a truce for 30 days or New Years Eve, just to give everyone a break...(and let Red start out 'modding' without 'RVs' all around)...how about it?

Give 'Peace' a Chance!

Just 30 days? How about a year, and anyone who violates it gets stripped of all their blessings and reps and goes on probation for six months? ;)

I agree. But as curt as this may sound, I think that would be asking too much of this subforum.

Anyway, I can assure you I won't be reporting anyone...as for the everyone else: who knows?

Red, you need to talk to Woob and his stupid sock puppet. What admonishment do you have for someone who violates the rules by circumventing his ban through a sock account and reporting with abandon, causing anger and misery?

We have yet to hear if he has been dealt with yet or not BTW. They just keep coddling him and letting him carry on, avoiding what we all know needs to be done.

Ridiculous. :|

Yes, any suggestions I will listen, and I want any 'issues' that need to be taken care of, and if I have to take a few to the 'woodshed' you know I have no problem with that. But you must agree to hold to the truce if I go and clean up the 'hornets' causing all the stinging......

You know very well that when he is not around the reports fall drastically. There is a reason for that, make the connection.

My suggestion is sitewide perma-ban. No more countless badgering, harassing appeals to the mods either.

I will talk to him directly and ask that he forgive, forget and see if he is ready to set aside the past, and see his response...

Sure seems that we've been down this path before. And it didn't just happen in the SDA forums. He did the same thing in other forums as well.

All that is needed is for the Trads, who are sincere in there devotion, to realize that nothing that is posted on this forum is going to lead to the demise of the SDA church. The church is strong enough. They don't need to be its defenders.

The problem is the church is like family, everyone says dont use violence, but get near their family and you just dont know what the response will be. So you have to be careful when its something which people hold dear...

Thank you Red for taking the time to listen and take suggestions. I think that's the problem most of the time. It feels as though the mods pay very little attention to the real problems on this site. And as for Woob, I am friends with him and if assured that the "truce" is mutual he will listen. Contrary to popular belief he is very reasonable, IMO.

Right...we've done that several times over the past several months. We forgive and let it go. Then he comes charging backin here like a bull in a china shop, and the appeal is AGAIN given to forgive and move on. And we do...

...and the the process just repeats itself, over and over again. We spend our time discussing dozens of reports made against certain individuals instead of discussing spiritual things.

Here's a question. How many reports did he make against Tall before he announced his resignation and exit from the SDA church??? I'd bet NONE. And now, one who defended him during his last episode here is being reported along with several of the rest of us.

At what point in time is this pattern considered harassment?

So how many times must we forgive a brother or sister....?

Yes, its a pain to forgive and easier to just smash them on the nose with the butt of our anger and gut them with the words of hate. But that is just evil whispering in your ear, and it has no end except eternal death, and then it stops. But is that were you want your path to go...?

Lets instead turn to the path of forgiveness, love and eternal life, many talk the talk but then forget to walk the walk........

Lets start doing the walk, even if one step at a time....

Anyone who pushes the report button to sting with revenge, hate or anger when they could have found a way to love that brother or sister and let Christ give them the strenght to shoulder the lashes...:o

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. Matthew 18:21-22

It's a hard thing to take but with divine help we have a way.......

Luke 17:4
And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

Ordinarily, I would accept that argument but it has its problems. The things I question today are things I also used to believe were the absolute truth so their offense can be no greater than mine. Old habits die hard. More importantly, I am not so sure they are as understanding of the feelings of people who belong to other communions as they wish theirs to be understood. They are not understanding when a Catholic refuses to accept their claim that their church is false, I don't think.
