Ralph,

Continue to proclaim the truths of Scripture. God's word does not return to Him empty for those that He has called. If others persist in their willful ignorance, that is to their own folly and not yours. My concern is that we do not unwittingly participate in their sins. Toleration is not a matter of what's true, it's a matter of what's permitted. Christians permit people to believe as they wish. But Christians must say that some beliefs are false, others true. Continue to proclaim that, and perhaps someday they will be guided to the truth. But do not compromise the truth for the sake of the "peace" in the church. Those that are divisive must be offered correction using proper Scriptural church discipline. If this fails, the Scriptures are clear: separate from them.

I always see the book of John as a very open invitation book, yet at the same time I see it as the book of division. In John 6 you have huge groups of people leave him. In John 8 you have people who "believe" in him try to kill him. Don't be surprised if people leave because of your "hard sayings".

At the same time, once you see unconditional election, you see it everywhere!
