So I don't understand. God loves us but he is going to cause global
havoc before the coming of satan, who is going to trick people into
believing himself as God.
Is it just me, or does this seem odd?
Greetings.
Actually, it could be Satan who causes the global havoc of the first
half of the coming tribulation, before he is cast down to the earth
mid-tribulation (Revelation 12:7-17). Jesus' unsealing of seals 2-6 of
the tribulation (Revelation 6:3-14) could simply be him allowing Satan
to bring about those events at that time, just as God allowed Satan
at a certain time to bring all sorts of havoc upon Job (Job chapters
1-2). And after the seals, angels sounding the tribulation's first six
trumpets (Revelation 8:7-9:13), which destroy one-third of things,
could simply be God allowing Satan to destroy one-third of things at
that time, just as God will subsequently allow Satan to cause one-
third of the angels to be cast down to the earth mid-tribulation
(Revelation 12:4-17).
And after Satan comes down to the earth with all of his fallen angels
mid-tribulation, it will be Satan (the dragon) who will then empower
a man (the beast) to become the Antichrist and to rule the whole
world during the second half of the tribulation, and to make war
against the church and physically overcome it in every nation
(Revelation 13:4-18, 14:12-13, 20:4, Matthew 24:9-13). God will
merely permit this to happen, just as God permitted some in the
early church to be physically overcome by Satan through
persecution by the Roman emperors (Revelation 2:10). God allows
such things to happen to the church because death is no loss for
those in the church, but even gain, for when their bodies die, their
spirits go into heaven to be with Jesus (Philippians 1:21,23,
2 Corinthians 5:8). And all suffering by those in the church before
they die will be greatly rewarded for all eternity (2 Corinthians
4:17-18, 1 Peter 4:13, 2 Timothy 2:12).
The Antichrist and his miracle-working False Prophet (Revelation
13:11-18, 19:20) will deceive the whole world (except for the elect,
Matthew 24:24, Revelation 13:8) into worshipping Satan the dragon
(Revelation 13:4). God will allow this as a punishment, and will even
himself send a strong delusion upon the unelect (2 Thessalonians
2:11, Romans 9:18b) to make sure that they will believe the lie and
end up being damned for their unbelief and their unrepentant sin
(2 Thessalonians 2:11-12).
But the deception wrought by the Antichrist and his miracle-working
False Prophet could be more subtle than them just saying "Let's all
worship Satan". Instead, Satan could be worshipped as "Lucifer".
The Antichrist and his False Prophet could teach the Luciferian lie
that Lucifer is the true God of mankind, while YHWH, the God of the
Bible, is the true "Satan", the true "Adversary" of mankind. The
Antichrist and his False Prophet could moreover teach the lie that
Lucifer is the true Christ, for Lucifer is the morning star (Isaiah
14:12), and Christ is the morning star (Revelation 22:16). The truth
is that Lucifer fell from his office of morning star (Isaiah 14:12) and
became Satan (cf. Luke 10:18); Jesus has taken over the office of
morning star (Revelation 22:16). But the Antichrist and his False
Prophet will contradict the Bible; they will teach the lie that Jesus is
not the Christ (1 John 2:22), and will teach the lie of Gnosticism
that Christ has not become flesh (1 John 4:3). God has allowed
these lies to be on the earth ever since the first century (1 John
2:18, 2 John 1:7) as a way of, by contrast, setting off the truth
(cf. 1 Corinthians 11:19) that Jesus is indeed the Christ (John 20:31)
and that he has indeed become flesh (Romans 1:3).
The Antichrist (as a Luciferian and a Gnostic) will utterly revile YHWH
(Revelation 13:6, Daniel 11:36) and turn the whole world (except for
the elect) against YHWH. But because most of the world thinks of
Jesus as a good guy, the Antichrist could teach that Jesus is a good
guy who is separate from YHWH. (The False Prophet could even claim
that he is Jesus returned to point the world to the true Christ.) Near
the end of the tribulation, after the Antichrist has ruled the whole
world for three or four years (Revelation 13:5, Revelation 12:11-12),
all the armies of the world will be deceived by demons into gathering
together in an attempt to fight a great battle against YHWH
(Revelation 16:14-16). How surprised they will be when they see the
true Jesus, Jesus the Christ, returning bodily from heaven to the
earth to defeat the Antichrist and his False Prophet, and all the
armies of the world (Revelation 19:19-21). Jesus will then set up his
millennial kingdom on the earth with the resurrected church
(Revelation 20:4-6, 5:10, 2:26-29).
