That doesn't sound plausible. Issuing a patent that doesn't perform?The patent is likely real, but just because a patent exists doesn't mean that the thing the patent is for actually exists or could even feasibly work.
Sounds like gross negligence, dereliction of duty, etc., etc.
Why would anyone spend money to patent a fraud?
