• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I cant remember if some thoughts without my will happened in my head for 1-2 seconds were unaccidental or not. i have ocd and my worries are not to make a promise to God. i have told God to protect me from ocd. but due to stress i do not know if the thoughts that happened in my head for some seconds were on purpose or accidental. my ocd is like "you may have made on purpose thoughts without your will" i would like to ask if they are valid or not.

Along with other things people do to help with OCD, I know all Christians should pray the prayer Christ gave us to pray daily in matthew chapter 6, because it bring real aid. It's not a choice of one or the other. Not A vs B. Instead do both. Do what helps with OCD and pray the prayer Christ gave you.

Also, another good thing to do with your strong focus is to direct that focus on reading the words Christ said, and thinking/meditating on them. Repeating them to yourself. This is a very powerful thing to do, in more than one way that matters greatly.

This is in addition to other things people might do to help OCD.

Here's a good link to the Gospel of Matthew, and it's fine if you are not often a reader to start even in the 3rd chapter (or in the first chapter even at verse 18 if you have not read much in scripture yet and are not Jewish).

Matthew 1 NIV

If needed as a focus, you could try repeating what you read, trying to get all the words down, by memory, if that helps you. The most key thing for me is to truly listen to Christ's words, to really hear them all the way down in my heart and soul, unimpeded.
