Kayleeroo!

hi sweetie! You are young enough to be my daughter, bless your heart! I think summer is a good time, if your church has some short term mission opportunieties, call the office or ministry department and ask about any weekend or short term summer mission opportunities. Not long ago me and my daughter went to Mexico on a very short term servanthood trip, to an orphanage. We got to help at the orphanage and also minister and talk with the kids there...another time they had a local right here in our city, they have those alot, you minister to homeless. I espeically like those because I feel our own people, esp the homeless are overlooked by churches, while other countries are attended to.

God bless you!!

as far as what lenguages to learn, thats hard to say because missionaries go to all parts of the world, some even minister right here in the U.S., to the homeless, or pro-life missionaries, etc. There's a group called Survivors also, for people your age, they are prolife missionaries here. As long as you have this on your heart, God will lead you...one test I have found is that if God is telling me to do something I personally dont really want to do, or that I would REALLY prefer not to do, that can be a signal it really is from Him!!

Let us know how it goes!!

Check out the wellness cafe online for information on aids. . . (the official governments aren't helpful at all - too much money and politics in the way)
email for names of doctors who are doing the most successful work for persons with aids. (they don't get any government recognition or funding). the from emails haven't been getting delivered so try dulos77 at the yahoo ......

I think it's awesome that you are considering becoming a missionary.

I agree with cookie's reply in starting with a summer mission's trip to get your feet wet. In my church the youth raise money all year long doing fundraisers and are "adopted" by families in the congregation to help with expenses for the 2 or 3 weeks they are there. I want to say that they had to raise around $2000 each for their trip this past year.

The full time missionaries come home on leave, and then they go to various churches around an area speaking at churches and getting offerings to help support their work.

Another thought is some Christian colleges have mission trips and student exchange trips for a semester or a college year.

sadpenguin mentioned becoming a physician, but nursing may be an option as well.

This is going to sound totally unspiritual, but it's a necessity for doing missions.

SAVE MONEY! SAVE MONEY! SAVE MONEY!

It costs money to do missions. Unless your missions organization funds you, you will have to spend tons of time fund raising.

Start now, so you won't have to panic and or wait when it's time to go.
