Can people write "inspired" writings today? If so, isn't it then, "scripture"?

New scrolls?

I asked a lady about her writings that she reads, that are really, really good, and she claims that hers are most definetly "inspired" by she says Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, what do you think?

God Bless!

A writing today can be inspired but the final message was delivered by Jesus through the apostles. Nobody today can write something which disagrees with what has already been said or add something that is necessary for salvation which is why the Biblical canon is closed.

In regards to that woman, I would just be skeptical. Every individual who has created their own denomination claims to be inspired by the Holy Spirit even though different denominations may contradict one another. Obviously they both cannot be correct so we cannot take everybody at their word.

Scripture.....The Holy Ghost by the mouth of the apostels spoke
Prophecy....holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost
The inspiration of God may give someone understanding by which they write, but it is not scripture. To claim it is the word of God would be a lie.

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Revelation 22:18-19
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

The cannon of Scripture and the Bible itself is closed.

That is entirely correct. The Biblical books were chosen to be the authoritative sources of the Word of God and, just as Jesus is the cornerstone upon which the spiritual temple is built, so the canon of scripture is the foundation on which all correct doctrine is built.

Can people write or speak by the Holy Spirit today (and since scripture was written)? Of course. But what they say must align perfectly with the foundational canon, just as a house can only be built on the foundation.

To assume that God still needs to add to his scripture today would be to believe he's really inept, stupid, slow thinking or just a procrastinator. I don't believe any writing today can be part of scripture simply because I believe God had no problems what so ever getting all that done during the life spans of the apostles (new testament). I do believe there are many holy spirit inspired writers today and I have used their writings to teach, but there is only one authority and that is the complete unaltered bible. It's sort of like reading a book about being a great football referee for the NFL. That's a good thing and you may learn but it does not substitute for knowing the actual official rule book published by the NFL. You can't quote something other than that to a coach on the sidelines.

No, the canon of Scripture is closed.

And that lady is a shade on the immodest side of good, imo.
