Friend reddogs,
I am not quite sure what you are getting at here, or just whom you assume the "powers that be" are.
I am just a lowly Moderator. I do not try to control what is posted in the SDA forum, nor do I have any agenda to keep you fighting among yourselves. I was not here when the two subfora were created, so I do not know what caused this to happen. Many of the current posters were active when this was done and would have a better answer as to why it happened. It is obvious that it has not been successful, but this lack of success is not external. It was not done as part of some anti-Adventist agenda as you seem to suggest. The unity you seek must come from within the Adventist community.
Some of us have never been through a 'wiki' process and have been chasing links or been bewildered by the voting selection and process, and I am concerned as we need to carefully show everyone how the questions for voting are formulated. Everyone knows how to vote, but if all you can vote on is whether you should "shoot yourself in the left foot" versus "shoot yourself in the right foot" (examples only), there isnt much to choose from.
The process has to be transparent and open to everyone, not make you chase after some non-existant discussion with a maze of links that no one can find where they can have any meaningful input. I have talked with all that I thought would be the ones doing the 'wiki' process and I have not received one response or pm to any of my proposals or questions.
It's not about my proposal(s) that I am concerened about but the way the votes were done with very little input. You are the first to respond and as I have not had any communication with you I will repeat the proposal I have given the others and ask that it be put to a vote to see what the true concessus is if they are given a wider selection of choices.
My proposal is to vote on phasing out the TRAD/PROG sub-forums in 90 days with the condition that controls or processes be put in place to stop the rancor and personal attacks that necessitated them in the first place. This is how I wrote it up and asked Tall73 and Stone that it be put to a vote, and no one has brought it up in any way.
Here is the proposal that I put up and sent:
Here is a proposal that I would like to present to everyone in the Adventist section of the Forum:
I think we can keep the prog/trad sub-forums for the present (since we voted on them) and put into place a better program so we can phase them out in 90 days if we meet certain goals. We need to set up the following and implement, and if we have a general consensus that it is working we can then vote to phase out the old prog/trad sub-forums:
1) A NO-DEBATE/STICKY subforum where the formal or official Seventh Day Adventist beliefs could be posted for study so we have a basis from where to start our discussions or studies. (This would allow non-Adventist and Adventists to see our churches beliefs as even some Adventists dont know them, just what they've been 'told'...)
2) Then a ADVENTIST DISCUSSION/BIBLE STUDY forum where the formal or official Seventh Day Adventist beliefs could be gone over and any presentation relating to the beliefs under discussion allowed. (This would allow non-Adventist and Adventists to ask questions about our churches beliefs, everyone can always learn in a true discussion of God's truth)
3) Then finally a GENERAL ADVENTIST THEOLOGY/DEBATE forum where any Adventist beliefs or issues could be analyzed by all and debated. (For those who want break down and scrutinize Adventist theology and beliefs and want to bring in different/fresh viewpoints for everyone to go over.)
Then we set up a select group (Tall73 has a proposal to use those with SDA icons to report, and I will defer to his proposal on this part of the process) who keep the discussions and conversations from getting out of line and report violators to the moderators for processing.
In other words, we police ourselves and let the moderators judge the problematic posters....
So we need to vote on:
5) A presentation of this proposal as outlined to vote on with the understanding that it entails a second part which is phasing out the prog/trad sub-forums at the end of 90 days by a second vote to see if the general consensus feels the controls and processes are working. (So this vote gives us 90 days to gauge if the general consensus feels propasal 1,2,3 and Tall73 policing process is working)
6) In 90 days a second vote to phase out BOTH the Progresive and Traditional sub-forums.
Respectfully
Red
