I am a Protestant. having said this, I have nothing against the Orthodox Church. In fact, I find the Orthodox faith to be beautiful in many ways, and the people even more beautiful, despite any differences we may have.

I was just concerned about one thing. Do you see me as a sister in Christ? Or am I not one because I am not Orthodox? I am lost as to what the Orthodox church teaches regarding this. I see you as brothers and sisters in Christ - even though our denominations are different.

TIA

I can't tell you exactly what the Orthodox Church has to say on this issue, sorry. However, I can tell you how I feel. Yes, I do see a bond between me and other believers in Christ. With that said, I feel our religions differ so much on so many levels, I can't help but feel Protestants are not too close to me.

Orthodox do not try to judge where another outside the known Church stand. In the words of St. Maximos (IIRC) - We know for certain where the Church is, we do not know where she is not.

We see Protestants as Christians that have had part of the fullness of the faith taken from them by the reactions of the founders and successors of the Reformation. It should be understood that we believe that we have preserved the faith of the Apostles, neither adding to it, nor taking away from it.

Yes, you are our sister in Christ! While we believe we are the New Testament Church with apostolic succession, we claim no complete knowledge of the Grace of God and believe that His grace can be at work outside The Orthodox Church as well. Your heart will be what judges you in the end.

We would only invite you to the fulness and beauty of worship that can be experienced nowhere else this side of heaven. True worship in which you can see, hear, feel, smell, and touch those things that call you straight to Christ Himself. You will feel yourself on your journey to perfection as you begin to experience the mysteries of Christ and His Church!

Consider a visit to a local Orthodox parish.
