Hey everyone. I don't want this to seem like a selfish prayer, but I would like to ask for prayers concerning my calling. Three years ago, God called me into a specific ministry which is writing and drama. After a long road of hardships and other obstacles, I have completed my first novel. To God be the glory!

I'm sending it out tomorrow to Tor Books, publishers of Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind and many other fabulous writers. I would like prayer from my brothers and sisters in Christ that this manuscript finds its way into publication. Not so I can attain any sort of fame or wealth, because I want neither, but so that I can lift God's name up high, so everyone could see. I want to reach lost souls through this book. I want to be a good provider for my home and I hope and pray God uses writing as that source. Could you also pray for my wife who has had great patience in dealing with my calling.

Thank you in advance and as I said earlier, to God be the glory!

Yeah, it's completely fantasy.

Cool. I was a pretty big fantasy fan in my high school years. Series I've read include:

JRR Tolkien: LOTR/Hobbit/Silmarillion
C.S. Lewis: Chronicles of Narnia
Guy Gavriel Kay: Fionavar Tapestry
David Eddings: Belgariad, Malloreon
Terry Brooks: Shannara Series, Heritage of Shannara
Stephen R. Donaldson: The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever

While commonly classified as science fiction, these two have enough elements from the fantasy genre to be included in this list.
Frank Herbert: Dune Series
Anne McCaffrey: Dragonriders of Pern Series and selected Pern books

Awesome! I've read LOTR and Hobbit, plus the Chronicles of Narnia and I"m about to start The Belgariad. I've heard David Eddings is an easy read.

Other series I've read include:

Terry Goodkind: The Sword of Truth series up to Pillars of Creation
R.A. Salvatore: Homeland/Exile/Sojourn and The Demon Awakens and The Demon Spirit
I've read untold numbers of Dragonlance books, mostly in high school. I would say that Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman are my favorite authors.

As I told UB, free copies for the prayer warriors!

Thanks all, me and my family really appreciate and need the prayers.

Gold Dragon did you ever read the Ender Wiggin books (OS Card)? Or the Giver by Lois Lowry?

I heard Ender's Game last summer on a road trip to Philly through one of those books on CD. It was a great story and I'm going to be on the lookout for the rest of the series. I heard there is an Ender's Game movie in production.

Never heard of The Giver.

Yeah, Eddings is very easy reading.

I read one Dragonlance book but never got into it, which is surprising considering my handle. Many assume my handle is about the fantasy genre but its source is from my Chinese heritage and a gift from a loved one.

Speaker for the dead which is the sequel to Ender game is really cool, along with Xenocide the ending. But Card took it farther and did the same story through the eyes of another character, Bean who was in Enders unit. Very cool idea and the best book in the bunch, Enders Shadow.

Yeah, I heard the movie was a combination of Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow because all the "talking inside the head" in Ender's Game is difficult to capture on film. Apparently, elements from Ender's Shadow gives the story more film-friendly material to work with.

All this was talked about in an interview with Card at the end of the book CD.
