  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

can dreams help you stop the future?

I agree w/ Caprial.. "dreams" given by the LoRD can be warnings. Am not an expert on this subject but based from experience... If you received a "message of warning" from the LoRD & this message is for somebody else.. sometimes there is a "confirmation" that goes along with it. Confirmation may come from the person concerned or from others or from other ways... that the dream is indeed God-given. (again am not claiming absolute truth here.. just based from my experience)
--------------------------------------------------------
Example: My discipler dreamed that she has a favorite pet rabbit. while strolling out in the fields her rabbit jumped from her arms to follow another rabbit.. when her white rabbit jumped into this muddy lake that was too deep for a small animal... my discipler remembered shouting the name of the rabbit... "HANNAH!!!" (i'l cut the story there). My discipler told me the dream bcz it was a "warning" for me.. & then she said... "but why did God used a rabbit? Out of all the small animals..why rabbit??" ... I looked at her w/ big eyes & said.. "er...under the chinese zodiac sign... I am a RABBIT" :) (an information my discipler doesnt know but God KNOWS) So this was a confirmation for her & for me.. that the message was God-given..
--------------------------------------------------------

The dream was given for a reason. To give the person involved the chance to avoid what is to come. .. but most of the time, based again from experience, people dont listen :sorry: ..& this thing is out of the dreamer's control. So like what Caprial said... PRAYER is indeed very important... if not to help avoid.. its to help the person overcome...

I'd have to agree with the other two. But they won't always be something you can stop.
I have been having visions since....I don't know...before 8 years old. I don't know how much earlier than that because I remember some dreams that have come true that I had before my family moved to MO and we moved when I was 8.
I had 3 dreams about the first church we went to in MO about it falling apart. The church splitting and people taking sides. It was all centered around my family, some people took my parents side while others were against them. All that really happened. The same people in my dream that stuck with my parents, all ended up leaving the church, and those who didn't stick with my parents in my dream, stayed at the church when we left it.
There are some things that God will give you dreams and visions about to warn you that something is coming. The event may still happen, but you can pray that you will be prepared for it, or pray over the person your dream was about that God will prepare them for it and protect them.
I have had many dreams that only parts of them have come true and I'm waiting for the rest to play out. I have others that I won't be able to understand the dream until years down the road when it actually happens. Dreams like that, where you don't understand them and no matter how hard you pray, God won't reveal the meaning to you....You get those because when the dream takes place in real life, you'll think back to the dream and know that good or bad, that current event is happening because God is allowing it. Situations like that give me an extra boost of confidence because I know God has it under control.

The dream was this really sad dream where I attended a funeral of two children. The identiy of the children were not known. They were both young like pre-school or grade 1 or 2.
It took a while to talk about it because it was so disturbing and I was afraid that it would disturb others. The children don't really remind me of any children I know.

I'm sorry you are having upsetting dreams, and I hope they go away soon.

Unfortunately, I stand on the side of dreams being a piece of the subconscious. After all, God may have given prophets dreams in the OT, but it's clearly stated elsewhere that psychics are of Satan; and seeing into the future I feel would fall under that category.

If you try to change the future, you are taking the will of God into your own hands.

Yes, there are people who see into the future using Satan. But, that doesn't mean dreams of the future are from Satan. God speaks to us in many ways. For me, one of those ways is through dreams. Not all of my dreams are from God speaking to me, some are just the piece of the subconscious creating my dreams, but I have had far too many dreams that I've woken up and had to pray about because of my dreams are God's ways of showing me something. Sometimes it's been about the church I was going too, sometimes it's about a friend or family member, and many times it's of my own life. Sure, not all are about the future, some are about the present. When I do have God given dreams, I pray about them. I don't set out to change the future if I have a dream about the future because I know God's the one in control.
If he gave me that dream as a warning of something that will come, then I ask God for guidance when the event happens. If he gave me the dream beause he wants to use me in the situation, then I trust him in that. For example, if God gave me a dream that my closest friend died, I would not be looking into preventing that from happening. If it's my friends time to go and be with the Lord, than that is for God to handle. So instead, I would go to God in prayer over it. If it was my closest friend, then I know his death would be very hard for me, so it could be God giving me time to rely on God for strength to help me get through it better than if I just found out it happened.
This is only one example. There are many reasons why God may give us certian dreams. The most important thing is that you go straight to God in prayer and seek HIM for answers.

That is so true.. Most of the dreams & visions that my discipler had in the past about one church or another church all came to pass. Warnings were given & prayers were offered but if the church whom the warning was meant for didnt take it seriously (w/c they usually do)... then everything in the dream/vision will happen..

Its good to see that you have a very clear understanding of your gift.:)

For example, if God gave me a dream that my closest friend died, I would not be looking into preventing that from happening. When you have this kind of dream or a vision..it is indeed very important to pray... fast & pray for the person.. or situation.. :crosseo: as revelation will also come from the LoRD.

...

What if you were missing some big, famous Scripture here which said otherwise? What if you were thinking in your heart one of these dreams on this list was from Satan... when it was really from God?

You should take accusations you make against people much more seriously then this.

This is a very serious thing to be saying or thinking about other people. That is, it is a very serious charge to make.

If it is impossible for such serious charges to be wrong... how would you even know that?

Is it not better to be safe about the matter and consider the verses which state otherwise, and consider the lack of verses backing up your model of the world and how it must be?

That is a disturbing dream, though it could mean just about anything. You need to go to God on prayer for such matters.

As far as "changing the future", God's word is unbreakable. However, anything bad which happens will ultimately turn out for the greater good. That said, there is not much to these dreams, they are incongruent and disturbing, the only answer there is to simply ask God that such a horrible thing may not happen and plead with Him for mercy in prayer... whatever it means.

That is quite simple.

We would never know, because if you stopped someone from dying, that would mean they wouldn't have died. We wouldn't know that it was going to be different because it didn't happen yet. Anyways, God already knows what will happen. He knows what you will choose to do, etc. God knows all. It's like it says in the Bible, He is the beginning and the end.
