Can demons hide/remove objects?

Hi everyone,

I have a question for you to ponder. Lately, objects have been coming up missing in my house. Most recently, I cannot find a book on spiritual warfare that I have been reading daily and keep close to me. I left it on the table and then it was just gone. I have torn up the house, looking in every room, under everything, inside every drawer. I've questioned my whole family about it, but no one has seen it. I have not taken it out of my house. There are also several other objects that have been missing, including a cordless telephone, which we have looked absolutely everywhere for. Also, several years ago, my wedding right just disappeared from where I put it (no one would have been able to steal it), so we had to buy another one. How I lost that ring is a long story, but it's like it literally vaporized.

I don't mean to overly spiritualize everything, but especially when I lost that spiritual warfare book when I KNOW where I put it and it is absolutely nowhere, it got me to thinking. Can demons hide objects, or even remove them from a location? Is there scriptural support for or against this?

A few years back, a gal who lived north of me would wake up and find things moved all around in her room....stuff moved or missing. She wondered, like you, where stuff went, searched the house etc.

Then one morning, she woke up to find the lampshade way up in the top of her closet and the lamp fineal screwed on tight.

So.....does this prove anything....nope, but I wanted you to know you weren't alone in this. And yes, I do believe demons can move things. My friend saw a bottle of nail polish lift up and come flinging across the room at her head.

Yes, demons do such things like this to inspire fear of them.
But what is so miraculous about this?
Guess what: these same things could be done by any human being.
So do not let this trouble you...even this they cannot do in the same measure as someone who is visible.
Rebuke and bind them and their cheap tricks.

There are plenty of scriptures that talk about trickery from the enemy. (I can't think of any right now )

They will use any means to put a stop to the good God has planned for you to do. Spiritual warfare book--obvious....cordless phone--maybe an important phone call was about to come up?


The enemy doesn't delight in glory like we do.

Thanks, guys! I appreciate your help here. I had my husband go and buy me a duplicate copy of that book and I am going to keep a good eye on it!

My friend's husband is in a wheel chair and rarely leaves the house. Last year, the Lord began to inspire him to start playing his trumpet again and put it in his heart to play at our church. One day, while my friend was at work and her husband was all alone, he noticed that way up high on a dresser was a bottle of the oil that he needed to play his trumpet. He had been out of it and usually had someone pick up a bottle of the less expensive kind. Anyway, this bottle was the expensive, better quality kind and he could not figure out how it got there. He could not reach it since he was in a wheel chair and no one had been in the house recently. He asked his wife, his grown children, etc. and no one had picked him up a bottle. They believe an angel placed it there to enable him to play again. Shortly thereafter, he underwent an even more painful physical attack and has not been able to play since. Obviously the devil does not want him to play, but the Lord does.

So, I guess, if an angel can bring him a bottle of oil, then maybe demons can move objects as well, huh?

Now, after my previous post, can I be serious? Honestly, this is exactly the type of freaky weird super spirituality I got very tired of in the P/C church. Just step back and see how ridiculous all this sounds.

The devil is everywhere. When your car doesn't start, it's "the devil". Never mind the fact you left your lights on overnight.

When your alarm clock doesn't go off in the morning, "curse you Satan, I rebuke you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ". Never mind you forget to set it the night before.

And on and on. Oh man, I just remembered another story. Gosh, see what you've done? I'm dredging up silly memories now.

The girl I was going out with before my wife was one of these weirdo super spiritual freaks. She had this old, crappy car and the petrol gauge needle would often swing all over the place, like a 60's playboy.

So anyhoo, we're driving along, and the needle swings from near empty to about a quarter. And she proclaims, "praise Jesus, he's put fuel in my tank". ROFL........

This thread is as bad as another one that recently came up, on "prophetic illness". You know, if you have a sore neck, God is telling you that you are "stiff necked", and if your eye is sore, God is telling you that you are not "seeing him" clearly. And so forth.

Honestly, naughty evil spirits moving things, being foul little gremlins that annoy you and make mischief all day long. Moving books, taking socks away, throwing bottles of nail polish at you. Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghhhh.......

There's plenty of evidence in the Bible of angels having the ability to manipulate our physical world. Demons are fallen angels. Therefore, it's not a stretch to assume they can so as well.

Did they take your book? I don't know. Did you look under the couch?

I don't know about this either - I have a friend that blames everything that happens on the devil. - One thing is that he is not everyplace at the same time.

One thing that was really strange for me was when I was putting my Holy Spirit inspired poems and stories on the web - I had really strange things happen to me. I would upload and there would be nothing there - my computer would break - call a repair man and nothing wrong. I went through 3 computers getting my web pages up.

Those poems have ministered to thousands and thousands - I could tell you many stories about those poems.

Of course the angels were at work also - I've had many people write me and tell me they were about to kill themselves and the site appeared before them and they had no idea how it happened.

I know the devil puts many blocks in the road for those who love the Lord, but I don't know if they do as much as they are blamed for.

I'm not sure there is a need to discern or to do anything different, that would be allowing them to shift your focus and granting them power they otherwise would not have.

The answer is the same - with or without demons hanging around.

Sometimes when people are just beginning in a pentacostal church, they are down right hilarious as to what they attribute to the devil. One time I was on the phone with a woman and out of the blue she say's, "Get away from me I rebuke you satan."
"Huh?", said I.
"Satan is around my legs." I think it might have been a fly.

Yes demons can do this but my first unction was how old are your children? Do their friends come over to visit? Maybe some of this is "sticky fingers" of a human nature.
Pray Psalms 91 over your house inside and out for 7 days...I know this sounds dumb but the Jews did this during their dedications of the new temples every time they moved. Psalms 91 is spiritual warfare and will clean out what ever doesn't belong there as well as remind the devil he is an uncircumcised Phillistine and you are BLOOD bought spirit filled. Kick him to the curb in Jesus name...been there done that and it's real.

Well, according to the Bible, angels moved the stone away at Jesus' tomb. Demons are just fallen angels, so wouldn't it stand to reason that they could do the same?

I understand what you are saying and I am definitely not one of those super-spiritual types. However, my book is nowhere to be found and there is nowhere else to look. I had it one night...the next morning it was gone. Seems weird, at the very least.

Thanks so much for your help and I will pray Psalm 91. Yes, I have 3 kids and I have extensively questioned them about the book and they all say they have no idea. Even if they did take it, I've looked in every nook and cranny in this house, so I really would have no idea where they could have put it if they did take it (which I don't believe they did). They have not had friends in the house or anything. I left the book at a certain spot and the next morning it was gone. Weird!

Well, I would rather boast in the Lord,
so I will not sit here and talk about what a demon can do or not do.

In Christ, we have authority over them, and they are defeated.
We must stand against them,
and resist them. They flee when we do that.

Doubt is the enemy of faith, BS.
Doubting their existence is not the way to fight them; faith in Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God is.
